Starting on a new game (putting old VXAce one on hold for now, if anyone here saw any of my older screenshots, though I plan on finishing that eventually), and just finished a couple maps for it. I used some of the VXAce tiles that I resized; hopefully they blend in well enough with the new tiles for it to not be noticeable.
The game is going to be both fantasy and sci-fi, and I want it to have kind of a gothic/steampunk setting. This is a house and a laboratory for one of my characters:

Please let me know what you think!

@drwho10 First things first, get rid of those horrendous shadows. MV's default shadows are terrible, terrible, terrible.

@drwho10 Well, the map themselves look pretty good, except for that one sheet of paper and pen in the lab that are hanging off of the desk. :p But actually, on closer inspection, it seems that some tiles are pixelated, and some are blurry. I'd imagine this is from the upscaling, but it looks odd. :/ Neither blurriness nor double-sized pixels really look good even by themselves, but I don't know what else you could do...

@Nutty171 Thank you!
I can fix the pen and paper tile easily (why do they make the default decoration tiles too big to fit on anything 1 tile width? Like, if it's something that should go on tables, it should actually fit on the tables. smh) and yeah, I know some of the resized ones look kind of blurry, I can try to clean up the fuzzy edges at least. As for the pixelated ones, I was using some tiles that I think were made from scratch instead of edits of other tiles; I can probably edit those as well. I'll post the new version of it when I get it finished.

@Negi-Mox (sorry I'm probably too new to this to be giving feedback) I think overall it looks good, but make sure you keep the dimensions consistent; I noticed that in some places the height of the walls is three tiles, and two in other places.
Also the two lower corners, especially the one on the right, seem kind of big and empty; I might suggest either making them a bit smaller or adding more things there. (though that might just be personal preference *looks at my screenshots of really cluttered rooms* anyway that one is just a suggestion, not really necessary)

@drwho10 Okay, I noticed that in the first image, everything is blurry, and in the second image, everything is pixelated. It actually looks as if you upscaled the images themselves, one using normal blur filtering (whatever you call it) and the other one using nearest neighbor. Because I realized that you used the same bookshelf tiles in both maps, but they're only blurry in one of the images. So I don't think you actually have a problem with this, all you need to do is not upscale the image.

I suck. Look at this horrendous map.

Maybe if I add more ridges to the cliff, that would look better, but then there's the question of how to make the grass look 3D...

I'm nowhere close to everyone else on these forums.

@MobileSuitSonic Okay, I am going to start at the beginning to help you work with this map. From what I hear, this is supposed to be a place that used to be important, but is now, ruins. First of all, where is the water coming from, you have a waterfall, but it's only a small dinky pond. You could decrease the cracks a bit, have parts that are not broken, with dark patches. As for your cliff problem, increase the surface of the the grass area, add rocks, bits of grass, tall grass, dirt is another good one and you could increase the pond, so it looks like it's coming from somewhere.

I suggest googling various games from the old NES era to games of today to see how they accomplished working with limitations. I don't suggest copying those maps, but they are interesting study tools to give you ideas. But step one, you don't suck, you lack experience, which is okay. It means you'll improve and get better with a little bit of hard work, and determination.

The small pond was influenced by the myth of the naming of Athens. Supposedly a small spring allegedly descending from that contest is still in that city.

There is a bubbling animation that doesn't show up in the image, but the spring's origin will be different. Still world building.

Also, darken the unbroken stuff?

I have an idea, but I can't find a lighting program for RMMV.

@MobileSuitSonic Yeah, there's a tile in the outside A2 (it's one of those works on tiles) the area near the fences and such. Use those tiles, add some unbroken tiles around and use those tiles See the tiles on the very right place on the other side of the fences? Use those tiles on the floor tiles you replace with unbroken versions.

I'm working on a Level Up genie mechanic. A friendly genie comes and grants the player a wish whenever they level up.

So far the players can ask for money or item that raises their hp or full heal. I'm contemplating on adding more wishes you can ask the genie, such as mana increase item instead.

@Nisshoku The forest map really doesn't have enough trees to be a forest. It seems to have even fewer trees than the town. :/

@Nutty171 I see what you mean lol. I'll do some edits adding more trees, and maybe the border trees as well. Or would that be pushing it?

@Nisshoku You can never really have too many trees in a forest map. :D You want to sell the forest idea, right?

@Nutty171 the reason the images look different is because the first was taken while playtesting the game, and the second was taken in the editor because it was too big to fit in the whole screen. Is it supposed to look slightly bigger while playing it, or is something wrong with my game?

Our latest feature is an interview with... me?!

People4_2 (Capelet off and on) added!

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
Can someone recommend some fun story-heavy RPGs to me? Coming up with good gameplay is a nightmare! I was thinking of making some gameplay platforming-based, but that doesn't work well in RPG form*. I also was thinking of removing battles, but that would be too much like OneShot. I don't even know how to make good puzzles!
one bad plugin combo later and one of my followers is moonwalking off the screen on his own... I didn't even more yet on the new map lol.
