    @Lunarea, your maps don't count. :)

    @Indrah, the autoshadows are doing strange things, I think some Shadow Penning is in order. That aside, if that arrow in the cave screenshot is supposed to indicate a jump point, you're doing your job as a game designer.

    @Luchino: I've thought this a lot about your screenshots, but the overlays are really too intense. You may want to play with Add and Subtract effects a little more, because right now everything looks really dark all the time, so it's really hard to appreciate the detail underneath. Also, I'm assuming Cruaidin is supposed to talk funny. If not, his grammar is distracting.

    @Kuvo: Two words: Ys. Eternal. If your battle system makes me recall that game, you're doing something right.

    @Raine Fallon: That equip graphic... it's just a silhouette but I'm positive that's Mutsumi Inomata's illustration of Caius Qualls from Tales of the Tempest. You may want to be careful with copyrighted images, no matter how filtered.

    Ace, although it could all be done in VX~ It's for the Arum contest, so I should be posting stuff about it very soon! 8D

    ...really I'm just loving the infinite amount of tile sets Ace has, but ahahahahaha I will probably end up fitting everything into one tileset. XD;;

    OH WELL~

    I've got the extra database things, AND THAT IS REALLY WHAT I'M LOVIN' HERE <3

    @Elements: that map looks very nice

    @Raine That status screen looks great. keep up the good work.

    @AK - I agree with ronove. the animation is not fluid at all. it needs more frames in between. that orc game looks fantastic. what tileset have you used?

    @quigon - i love what you do with rtp style tiles. there are not many good rtp style outdoor maps.

    @Luchino your maps always rock!

    @Lunarea Thats a beatiful farm. i can't wait to know about your 'super secret project;

    @Emmy: Looking good there. I've always had a soft spot for Mack tiles. ^^ I still have to do my databasing...

    *sniff* I lost all my maps that I made for the ARUM contest ( and my events, dialogue, w/e, so I had to redo them ;_; ). Only did three maps today ( in about an hour... ><, pretty small maps, btw ). Anyway, and in-game map and a dev map.

    [IMG]

    It's all about the mystical and magical in here... I've always wanted to do something like this.

    [IMG]

    Dev map for Tairgirn ( in Celtic/Welsh myth, it stands for 'Land of Promise', even though my game is called 'Land of Silence'... -_-) Oh well, it's a temp name.

    @Emmy - looks sahweet! The balls of light look a little pixellated though, dunno if that was just the screenshot or whatnot.

    @Luchino - I like the first one! Looks very magical. As for your dev map, I actually think that's a nice little size, I wouldn't overdo it on the NPCs and whatnot.

    EDIT: Here's the next part of that same village. Two more smaller outdoor locations and I am DONE-O.

    Ok, I have a few maps I've been working on today, and I would really appreciate your advice. My map making is normally too cluttered or too sparse, so if it looks one or the other, please let me know so I can fix it. I do want to get better at mapping, so I'll happily take your advice.

    [IMG]Yes it is supposed to be floating in space, this was intentional, well, technically it's supposed to be an alternate plane of existance but you get the general idea.

    ^ Not bad but the roof and windows in the first screenshot in my opinion do not work well together. Also in the second screenshot, that place with picture seems kinda pointless.

    In your first image, the middle section of the building has columns going up and down on both sides. Windows and doors do not go well there - I would suggest making that section wider and making sure windows/doors are not placed on the edges over those columns.

    In the third image, the steps going up don't make any sense. The ones leading down are flush with the floor, so you don't need the steps going up to it. If you WANT them there, I'd say to add a short "wall" around the basement entrance so there's a reason for the steps. However, I think flush with the floor looks fine (just as you have it in the last image), so I'd just remove the extra steps.

    The shape of the desk is very unusual in the last image.

    I managed to finish up 9 maps yesterday ( thinking of doing another 9 today ), but I tend to keep my areas small.

    [IMG]

    Added a border that not only gives it a 'widescreen' effect, but also serves as a location indicator. This should look a bit better than the previous version

    posted.

    Hey quigonkeichy, I've been looking through this thread and I gotta say that your maps look absolutely beautiful! How do you create such amazing looking maps? The colors and shading are amazing.

    Thanks, I'll look into what roof might go better, and you might be right, the bit with the picture does look a little pointless.

    Thanks, I'll see if I can make it wider, you do make a very good point.

    But in that case how would the character get up to the third floor without the steps. The third and fourth image are supposed to be going up into the tower part, should the steps be in a different place, or turned around to give the effect of just carrying on up the stairs. And out of curiosity which one did you think was the basement? I only ask because I hadn't intended there to be a basement, but it sounds like an interesting Idea.

    It is, I know, why I didn't change it earlier I have no idea, guess I was getting tired, it was nearly 2am when I posted. lol.

    Thanks a lot for your opinions, I appreciate them.

    @ADM - I'd recommend you look up some tutorials on parallaxing to see how a lot of it's done, I've kinda just went off of them in the past. The more you do it the easier it gets!

    @Luch - I think the border's pretty cool, I'd keep it that simple too. I'd maybe tone down the opacity of the overlay in the first map a little as well, but aside from that they're looking splendid!

    Where would I find parallaxing tutorials? Are any on here?

    Good Lord, you oughtta share the water-reflection script script soon! :)

    Wow. Its ambience bears resemblance to my home-willage. You made me suddenly feel homesick in this college hostel room.

    Ah, I didn't realise that was going UP to the next floor. I thought it was going up, meeting the steps beside it, then down into the basement. I've usually seen steps going up placed against a wall, which means they're usually on the edge of a room, not in the middle. Maybe if you just move it back one tile, it will be more clear that it's not two sets of steps leading into each other (in reality, if you climb up steps from the basement, you're going to come out onto a flat part of the room, not smack into a staircase leading back the other way). However, I've rarely used multi-story buildings in maps, and certainly not this way, so others may have better suggestions :)

    The best Jewelry of the isle. If you lay your grimy hands on the glass containers, you'll be chucked out of the shop ... Forever. Though, items here are only for the rich.

    Thanks guys for all the feedback, 'tis very appreciated :D

    @hydea

    The game shall go into slow mo ^_^ The CINEMATIC ACTION thing will be more like a mini-game though, you don't have to get any of the button presses right, your character

    just get's smacked around in the scene. You don't lose health either (but this is being debated in my head). YOU DO, however, get a special prize after each perfect

    CINEMATIC ACTION, which will pertain to the bonus dungeon that will be in the game.

    @Shin

    Hopefully both the game and the way to do that event (It's super easy, just takes a really long time.)

    Your XAS screens look very nice also!

    @Raine

    Thank ya! I hope the story is good enough to go with it (Insert OHGODFACE here) I'll submit it to the forums when a demo comes.

    On your screens: The shadows for the sprites and the floating text really make those screens nice to look at. I like them a lot! That menu is pretty awesome too!

    @S4suk3

    I love snowy towns ^^ The way you did the frozen water/ground is a really picturesque way,I never thought to do something like that before. Looks tres bien!

    @Elements

    A destroyed snowy castle @_@ You did very well with that, and Oscar fits right in with it!

    @quigon

    I've been in love with your maps since I played your demo, and I must say that you always keep with one style. I really like that, it connects the game so very very well!

    I really like that quaint little village :)

    @AK

    dayum, those Hellborn just got slaughtered... Spriting like that takes so long to get done, but I'm glad to see you going in that direction! Some fine tuning and it'll be

    one beast fighting scene! Also, is that CBS evented? It looks awesome.

    @Lone Wolf

    Whoa! That sprite work is fantastic! Also, analog movement? That's quite a feat in 2D Indie gaming!

    @Kuvo

    Looks pretty good! The only nitpick I have is the clouds at the beginning. Their opacity seems like it's a bit too high, so maybe lower that and add some of the Fog-01 from

    xp and it'll be a nice storm!

    @Indrah

    I really love how you've done that mountain, the cavern openings, the waterfall, the climbable vine, it all looks very nice.That's one helluva cave too!

    @Lunarea

    That patch of flowers in front of the house really catches my eye, I love how you used the tall grass tile to make it look more grown.

    @Luchi

    The story of that side project looks very entertaining Luchi! The mapping is like always top notch editor mapping.The water looks very nice too.

    That blows that you lost your maps though...

    @Emmych

    Those look great Emmych! The balls of light look really cool, and the fog overlay is really quite nice ^_^

    @dragons

    I like the concept, but the sandy stairs don't really go with the floating thing. The rooms of the house look pretty nice though.

    @Luster

    I like the idea you have going with that Luster! Those cases look really good too!
