@Paradoxum, What Celianna means (I think, please correct me if I'm wrong) is that the silver-ish border just underneath the railing on the 1st floor is not needed because the railing is there. Do you know the part that she circled? That is the part that you need to remove, the ceiling border thingy haha :p

It can't be that because I already said that it was just a border at the top of the wall, like this

Hmm, it doesn't work well as a border though because it juts out of the top of the wall, maybe remove one of the dimensions subsequently making it 2D and it would work... It still wouldn't look good, but maybe you could draw your own pattern or re-colour it gold-ish?

It's not a border though, it's a ceiling. If it was a border, I'd have made it the same colour of gray as the walls, but I made it very bright because it acts as a ceiling (and you even use it as one). You can keep it if you want, but it looks strange.

Here's a quick botched up job that lowers the railings and removes the ceiling from the first floor:

It doesn't work because I can't simply move the railing down like that because i'm not doing it parallax-style, and if I change the row of tiles for the top of the wall to another row they mis-match and the pattern looks off

They are already off on the left side of the wall though - but hey, nothing is stopping you from removing said portion of tiles in the editor, and then putting a parallax underneath it that corrects it. It doesn't need to be 100% parallax, you can be smart about it, since tiles overlap parallaxes.

I've read a lot of people saying they disliked the use of tree canopies, so I decided to try a dark forest-style map without using them... And this is the result (Not the entire map, it was too big and I don't want to spend the time putting together a huge 1/1 picture)

Six, 640 x 480 screens ahead:

I personally like it but I'm not the best mapper so I don't know if I did it right.

And I know it looks confusing to navigate but the path is marked by the dead leaf trail. (And if you see any errors with the trees please tell, I'm sure there are many.)

@Leaf I think if you tone down the overlay a bit, the overall quality of the map will increase

Try making it a bit darker and use the chandiler(however it's spelled) as the main light source.

@Leaf: Too dark. Try brightening it up a little bit. I do understand that you want the darkness to give away the feeling of being a little lost in the forest, but this is too much, to the point where it starts annoying the players.

@gadgetkk: Hmm nothing much to say. Try adding more stuff on the wall, like windows, paintings, pictures, pendulum clocks, etc.

@Leaf, if I were you I wouldn't worry much about your mapping, the map looks lovely. I don't think it's that dark neither, but more people have said it looks too dark so maybe you should lighten it up anyway, not too much, the sense of darkness makes the map work well.

@gadgetkk, I like it's simplicity however I see how you've tried and made the plants corner the room, which is something I love to do too haha. Maybe make the upper passage way 1 tile wide, 2 tiles in from the edge of the room, and put the plant in the new created edge? Just maybe haha.

It was a little too dark, and when walking around I did realize also the chests I had hid under the tree shadows were so dark you couldn't even see them, so I did lighten it up a little.

Also, here are a few indoor pictures. I feel most comfortable with nature maps, but I gotta learn to make decent towns -- starting with the inside. ;)

Note: The doors lead to the houses' backyards and not another room!

@Gadgetkk It's simplistic but it makes sense, you don't want people fumbling around loads of furniture to get to their seats. Though, if there aren't any rooms behind it, I'd recommend putting some windows in.

@TDS - that's awesome!

I updated one of the scene maps in Blood Shard tonight. It's the King's study (he does have a bed in there yes) and he's a very messy man.

@quigon: Clutterific, I might say. But without overdoing it. :) It's only bad clutter if the player can't navigate his/her way through a map.

Someone is annoyed.

Our latest feature is an interview with... me?!

People4_2 (Capelet off and on) added!

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
Can someone recommend some fun story-heavy RPGs to me? Coming up with good gameplay is a nightmare! I was thinking of making some gameplay platforming-based, but that doesn't work well in RPG form*. I also was thinking of removing battles, but that would be too much like OneShot. I don't even know how to make good puzzles!
one bad plugin combo later and one of my followers is moonwalking off the screen on his own... I didn't even more yet on the new map lol.
