@Kaelan The horizontal one, definitely! It is much cleaner, and looks more, how to say, professional:)

Those menus look amazing. I also prefer the horizontal display.

Working on some new tiles, and seeing how you guys think it is working as it is starting to all look the same to me now. Getting the structure of the city right, then adding plenty of extras. I'm aiming for a rich city that uses water-technology (as in, pipes, gears, and water, but nothing of the futuristic steampunk direction... not metal + wood + rust, but stone+metal+gold, water-powered clocks, not steam-powered blimps, etc.) I'm aiming for rich and tech-advanced-yet-ancient...

Using Babylonian-era style as part of inspiration, thus the gold+blue color scheme.

It's a good start, Raith! But I think it would help a lot to add shadows for depth (Where the triangular roof meets the wall, for instance). You can also try playing with contrast a little more. The colors suggest the gold is metal, but it doesn't have enough shine to it to be metal. Very lovely theme, though! I really like the blue and gold combination. :)

@Raith: Im not sure about the placement of the statue on the right side of the map. The way you have laid out the buildings implies that the central one is of some importance. Everything about the 'entrance' to that building is mirrored except that statue (should be moved left). It also blocks entrance to the building from the right, which would be a strange city design if the building is important. I'm not huge on the mirror effect in general, but it would make sense here.

Just experimenting.

The white sparkles are Moghunter's snow effect,

I realize they're probably not eye candy for a lot of people but I like his weather script :3c

Edit: So I've just started working on character creation

Made some progress on this since earlier this week. I got a few ideas for the layout from the Dragon's Dogma character creation screen and decided to try them out. A few shots of what it looks like so far:

I like snow falling, but the sparkle does not work here. It is way too bright for the rest of the map/tiles. I like the map overall, but there are some design consistency issues.

Welcome. That is a very nice map you have there. You did a wonderful job with the foliage. The only thing that jumps out at me right away is that the window of the house on the left is actually on top of a tree. Very promising! What is the name of the project?

I think that the room is too big, lots of dead space which makes it seem unnatural. When was the last time a teenager had trees in his room either? Additionally, the desk lamp's light is a bit off. Not sure where you got those grey windows and wall in the back (looks like celianna's old work), but they do not fit with the rest of the vx tiles. Not high enough contrast.

The tree is in front of the house, maybe it seems to be at the top :D

Thank you anyway, the current project has no name yet. I am using it for mapping only. But maybe I will build a story around it :D

@ Elements

I like the idea behind this map's tileset, especially for the guard post and the transparent glass. It really looks like an military base.

But I personally find that the snow effect is awkward that it doesn't fit the map.

@ Sahagin

Wow, I really like this map. The environment and lighting make the map looks even better!

This is the latest screenshot from my game. I've finally moved on to RPG Maker VX Ace.

It's tiring to draw the map with Parallaxing but the result is truly worth it. This map is a test

map using recently done tileset.

The town and the war scene are inspired by Final Fantasy Type-0 (lol)

@Coffee Straw LuZi: I didn't even notice you used some of my tiles until I stared at it for a while. Looks great! The tiles that aren't pixel-art blend in really well. Th e one that are however (the machines), don't really. Other than that, looks great. I love the floor reflections.

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
