@Usagi....the hill in the center looks...a little off....replace it with water.

And I really don't think the trees are much of an issue since it can't be seen in-game.

Summary: if it's supposed to be shocking it isn't, if you're not wanting to review the map itself (I gather) I fail to see why you want to post this here.

Mismatch? It's the point that she's bigger, what do you mean bad and bland? And the map isn't the point of those screenshots. :p

You're the second person to say this but I've never said it was blood on the wall? But seeing as people expect it to be blood, I guess I'll make it into blood... Heads on spike sound really tame, don't see why you pulled that as comparision. :p

Isn't this topic to post screenshots? It said "Game & map screenshots", I was showing off screenshots of my game and video of another.

If the point is "UNFINISHED, TEMPORAL, NOT FINISHED PRODUCT" stuff, then go to the WIP topic. More so for a stuff like a video. I honestly I have no idea of what you're trying to do here.

As for the sprites: STYLES DO NOT MATCH. Size means jack **** if one of the sprite styles looks fake on the maps and in company of other game elements.

Wait, I can only show finished stuff in this screenshot topic? How does that even make sense?

Heads on spikes was used as a scare tactic in the old ages.

About maps: As fas as I undertsand your point, you say you're not posting these screenshots for the maps, they are not finished, and you're not asking how to map them or anythign. As far THIS topic goes, people usually (as far as I know) either:

-Ask if a map looks all right

-Ask about help on mapping an incomplete map

-Show a finished map for feedback.

Since you're not in any of these categories, I don't know what you're expecting.

About the sprtes: The blong girl does not match the environment. Size aside, which I understand is on purpose, that's not the problem.

She's pixelated differently from the rtp sprites, her colors clash with the rest, the STYLE (how sprites are built, the anime eyes, everything) looks off in compraison.

It would be the same if you put Mack and Rtp sprites in the same game, or if you mixed pixel tiles with rtp painted tiles, etc. They do not match and cause a bad impression on the player (It gives the game a shabby, uncared-for look).

Again, I could be wrong, I am not 100% sure about how gore works on the site, but I know pornographic content (even non-explicit) is not allowed, so I'm guessing extreme violence is the same.

And I'd rather you didn't assume I was raging, frankly. Hope this came across to you this time. If not...well, it didn't. :/

I've been doing this for a long time. Mapping is not my high suit.If you were to point what I do wrong, you'd have to tutor me by hand and even then I'd probably only learn few things. Why I'm not asking about mapping is because you really would have to be writing essays about it.

Oh, and I'm also looking for feedback on other elements of course. There's more to it than maps in a screenshot, you know. Besides, if I'd want to show off mapping, I'd do so without showing dialogue or anything like that.

Fair enough, I didn't think the clash was that big of an issue but I guess it'll look better once all sprites are in anime style.

From past experiences at several other forums, if you put cat sized warning labels and clearly state that it is not material for young eyes and as long as it's not literal hardcore pornography, it's good.

This is a horror game and I'm not making it for children, so it will be disturbing on various levels.

Oh I totally got what you were saying from the start, I was just saying why they were like that and/or asked for clarification, like in the sprite. Like I said, I'll fix the "blood" lettering and few other things you said. You sounded like you had burr under your saddle, which is why I was surprised and made the comment about raging.

The WIP is for resources. The game & map screenshots is exactly for what it says on the tin, it also includes videos of gameplay.

@MrT: ...Frankly speaking, if you're a developer and have been for a long time and plan to keep at it, but sitll claim you're bad at mapping, you should work to improve it, since it's a vital part of game design (or that's my opinion at least).

Also I have written an essay, actually (or a tutorial in this case) in the matter XD

@Celianna: I do not believe the discussion guaranteed a report, which is why I did not.

Initially I gave feedback (not liking it). Then I specified what I meant. Then I stated my expectations of the topic and explained some more.

I apologize if this should have been reported instead. I did not consider it to be so, and I sure as hell wasn't trying to act like a mod.

This is my first try to make paralax stuff and lightning. I'm still getting hang of it how it's done so it's nothing special. There's three light sources, most noticable being the night light.

The map seems fine. Maybe a bit "barren"... I love the Alarm clock, CDs, console etc. Super cool. And the portraits are awesome! You do those yourself?

ok, idk if I'm posting this question in the right thread, but do you think an anime-ish art style for the NPC sprites would work in contrast to the normal tilesets that RPG Maker has to offer? I'm wondering because on the project I'm planning, my friend is doing art for the character portraits but also wants to do the sprites, but I'm not sure his art style would match the RPG Maker tilesets. So, do you think it'll match or that it won't match?

@Deckiller: Nice work on them maps dere. I do think the waterfall looks a bit weird, like it's not textured right, but that's just my opinion. Also maybe try copy&pasting some flowers and stuff together to make more unique flora perhaps? idk about that, your decision.

This project requires use of all default RTP; otherwise I think your suggestion is great. I see what you mean about the waterfall too.

I didn't do any of the sprites seen in tileset. The portraits were drawn for me specifically for this project and I colored them. I left them simple and muted, instead of going full on shadows.



I'm still going to work on this but this is going to be the interact menu for Lazrael.

Here's a Native American inspired place. It acts as the central hub for my game's location, and is meant to have been deserted forever ago. Since then, the industrial era has set in, hence the random chunks of metal lying around (it's a little more apparent in other sections of the map, this one just looked nicer).

That looks amazing! Though, I'm somewhat bothered that the rest are so great done but the HUD is very simple and without any shade or anything.

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
