I agree, your HUD looks a tad too dark.

Otherwise, I really like your map. You have very nice placement.

quigon: I'd go for something a little fancier with the HUD design. It kinda sticks out in a bad way right now, I mean usually plain bars like those ought to be a little smaller if you're going down the simple path.

Necromus: I dig your stuff. Houses are spaced just nice so the town doesn't look as cramped as most people make them. Decor's well placed as well. Nothing looks redundant.

Spent forever editing this platform together, havn't even touched the rest of the map ALL DAY. Can't resist my urge to share it with the world cause I'm rather proud of how well it turned out. (screenshot in editor and then in game where you can see the parallax)

Also I am scouring this thread and shamelessly saving all the good pics for later when I need ideas. You guys have some pretty unique approaches to map-making I wouldn't have thought of.

I'm currently on page 18, I'm gonna be here a while...

well I'm kinda stuck now. Erased my whole map in favor of making the ground a parallax so I could have a rounded cliffside instead of a boxy squarish edge. Issue is I'm not entirely sure how to make it look like a cliffside now.

Release day less than 24 hours from now. 6+ hours of fun coming your way soon. :)

You can trade the various Golden Doubloons you find for rare merchandise at this Relic store --

--found in this town. It's my favourite town so far. Maybe it's because it's so pretty.

And a simple shop interior.

@DemonLamma: Tbh, that doesn't resemble a cliff in any way right now. If you're going for a rounded map, make the whole map a parallax, shape the cliff by erasing those extra mountain tiles, and give it more elevation. Eg, like adding in one of VXAce's/VX's pre-made parallax backgrounds ( like the mountain or the sky one ), so it appears more realistic. Some shading wouldn't go amiss either.

Another try-out, this time with Celianna's Parallax Tilesets, with a few from BenBen/Hanzo Kimura(?). This is not yet the final product (with effect et al.), though. :)

Lu-chwan, those screenshots are delicious, I just want to cover them in tomato sauce and have them for lunch :3

JD, I quite like that, but I think the dirt patch in the middle looks a little out of place, maybe another kind of dirt would be the ticket to win?

Just about ready to nail this one down, but I have one last dilemma. To cel-shade, or not to cel-shade.

EDIT: just noticed that the scale is a little wrong on these screens, so please don't bother yourself with asking why the people are so tiny compared to those wooden crates.

So by the looks of it, this'll be my first post here, hurrah!

Lol.

For the past few months, I've been working and reworking on my game, Calamity Trigger, I don't want to spoil things yet, as I'd rather wait until it's ingame before I mention things like story, etc, as it's all viable to change at any moment.

For now though:

My first paralax map, using Khas' lighting script and Yami's overlay script. It's Fort Locke, a temporary position belonging to Aruceidyia whilst they attempt to overtake the Silva Isles, a pocket of land just outside the border of Scarlet. Rumour has it that a grand energy rests within the ground there, many believe that Aruceidyia's true intent on taking Silva and attacking Scarlet in the first place was to take this energy.

~~

The Grand Aruceidyian Army razed villages and cities of Scarlet to bring you the Life Cavern, hidden hideaway of the mythical Life Crystal. An embodiment of all life on Aevus and capable of releasing wide-spread decimation and a consequential trigger in bringing world-wide massacre.

Enjoy~

The cave's tint could use a bit less opacity, just so then the player can see where he's going since it looks like you got

some twisty paths and stuff.

'Aruceidyia' is the most convoluted name for a country I've ever heard hahaha

that said, your second screenshot looks really cool, I really like the twisty pedestals that you've got the crystals on.

Our latest feature is an interview with... me?!

People4_2 (Capelet off and on) added!

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
Can someone recommend some fun story-heavy RPGs to me? Coming up with good gameplay is a nightmare! I was thinking of making some gameplay platforming-based, but that doesn't work well in RPG form*. I also was thinking of removing battles, but that would be too much like OneShot. I don't even know how to make good puzzles!
one bad plugin combo later and one of my followers is moonwalking off the screen on his own... I didn't even more yet on the new map lol.
