Here's a little something from our game:

Love the portraits. The sprites are way too bright though. Especially the guys in the portraits, their sprites' skin color is a lot white/brighter than they should be. Should probably make the "Job Office" sign a little narrower too, the letters look a bit stretched and pixellated.

Too dark?

Could be, but that could also just be the contrast with the white forum background. It's still bright enough to see the difference between the dirt, grass & trees, so if that's meant to be a really dark or eerie area, you might want to leave it like that. If it's supposed to be a regular place at night, maybe make it a tad brighter.

Unless you are making a horror game, where the darkness is played up to scare the player because of what lurks in the darkness, you do not need a map to be that dark.

@AK47: I honestly prefer B; not too much brightness without just plain going a bit too far (referring to C).

Definitely B. The darker parts help make the lighter pop out a lot more and it's easier to see what's going on.

AK47, I agree with both Liberty and Rekx -- but I would even tone down the exposure a little bit more, especially around the windows. As it is, it's still a little bit too bright in my opinion. Otherwise, that atmosphere is remarkably good.

Looks good! I like how the sprites match the portraits pretty well. Is that template HalfKaiser you're using? Or like a mod of it? I especially like the balloons.

That's looking pretty sweet. I like less exposure and maybe like you can combo B+C. Like you don't have to make it pure black and white but rather kinda faded out.

It's not that the music is bad ... It's just that it's the Doctor's theme (from Doctor Who), and the game doesn't seem to have anything to do with Doctor Who. :3
