It's not that the music is bad ... It's just that it's the Doctor's theme (from Doctor Who), and the game doesn't seem to have anything to do with Doctor Who. :3
Oh is that what it's from? I didn't know, never seen a doctor who before >w<

It's not supposed to be a SBS battle background, but a meeting place for a Tribe. I have yet to add a camp fire and such, though.. :)

@RyanA I'm mainly a graphic designer and storyboarder ^^

I have to learn the music dynamic for understand the better choise :D

@ Clord: Your map certainly doesn't look bad but for the sake of realism, perhaps change either the roof or the window to something more appropriate. Usually, buildings that feature stain glass windows are set into stone buildings with good solid roofs (tiles or stone) and stone (brick facade or otherwise) walls. If you are going to stick with straw roofs and wooden building, then I would consider changing the windows to wooden (with or without glass panes).

Yeah originally it used just those wooden ones which has the same overall shape. But when I considered how structure looks from the inside, it started to make a bit more sense.



A vampire who keeps that place just pretends to be good, but in reality his followers are fanatics and he eats humans. Something to consider with the overall setting when designing that place.

Sweet, I think it looks much better without the dirt. All I think it needs to finish it off is a few loose flowers or tall grass in the middle :3

Perhaps the person who you got your theme from renamed it when they remixed it or the song goes by more than one title, but it's the doctor's theme. It appears in Doctor Who so often that it's very recognizable.

If you still want to use it in your trailer, that's your choice. I'm just letting you know that it's not a randomly awesome song you can find on the internet. :)

While it looks a bit better now, simply half-erasing the tiles to blend them together is a shortcut way that makes no sense at all. It works pretty well when going from dirt to sand, because that is kind of a logical way that those two terrains might interact (being mixed together.) Tall grass doesn't fade out of existence as it enters a clearing. Grass doesn't slowly fade across a rock surface.

You should take the time to erase the tall grass tiles properly so that individual blades of grass end, and there is no fading. Or just place the tile as you would in the RM editor and add additional bits of tile to round out the edges and benefit from the mapping style.

This is my first time mapping for a serious project; not going to parallax for some unknown reason. I've begun to take a liking to mapping, but don't tell anyone!

okay this is directed ad nearly everybody. i see this in so many of these screenshots so i'm gonna make this big.

GRASS DOES NOT FADE.

STOP MAKING GRASS GRADUALLY FADE INTO OTHER TERRAIN TYPES.

The idea here is a thing like a murder room or something in the end of a dungeon .

kaizerblitz: how does the ABS play? is the room layout specifically designed with your combat system in mind? for example, i see some strange single-tile areas where the player (or the enemy) might get trapped which could lead to some awkward gameplay. unless the battle is designed to MAKE USE of those areas—that might be rad.

when you're doing level design, FUNCTION comes before everything else.

Hum ... i am using SAS , and i think i shall wide some areas , i had trouble with enemies getting stuck before , but you can get the murder /fear vibe right ?^^

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
Can someone recommend some fun story-heavy RPGs to me? Coming up with good gameplay is a nightmare! I was thinking of making some gameplay platforming-based, but that doesn't work well in RPG form*. I also was thinking of removing battles, but that would be too much like OneShot. I don't even know how to make good puzzles!
one bad plugin combo later and one of my followers is moonwalking off the screen on his own... I didn't even more yet on the new map lol.
