If you completely re-do the tiles and characters you can produce some nice results.

@BulletPlus - I like the details you've put in as far as the atmosphere. The only thing that I can say is that the pub almost seems a little too long on the far end, maybe adding another table and moving that one down a hair would clear that up. Otherwise no complaints map-wise!

@Everyone - Thanks for the tips! I changed the water style, and then couldn't stop myself.. and ended up changing the island around, too. Far as details, I'm still new to this, trying to put in the small things without it coming off as over cluttered.

Note: the butterfly on the island floats around, I just took the screenshot at the wrong moment.

How do you go about setting the light from torches/lamps etc...

RMMV
@bullet: Too empty and too dark. I'd add a couple more tables (two tables in such a large pub feels empty strange) and make the counter area more illuminted (feels odd that the COUNTER where the barman works would be so dark.)

The rug...feels odd. Considering this is a pub, and not a specially posh one, feels like a bad choice, since patrons will spill all sorts of digusting stuff on the floor XD

The details feel a bit mishmashed on the right side, it seems a bit of an odd mix of everything: ornamental swords and shields, flower vases, paintings, brooms, pots? I'd sa, that if you want to have a more "decorated" corner, you move all the "work" things to the left side, with the crates (such as the broom and the Barrels/Urns). In that case, I'd also suggets to make a partition wall separating the clien'ts area from the work area in the left.

Also The fireplace is a bit iffy. Why is it in the empty area? I'd move it to the right, and put some space for people to sit around it (also, If you're parallaxing, I'd move it down so it's not completely embedded in the wall. Its depth looks all wrong as it is).

That said, the structure is good and with some work it'll look great. I'm sorry if it seems I'm being so negative, but parallax causes a "if you're not going to sue the editor, you better make it BETTER" reaction in me >3

@BulletPlus: very clean, very nice, perhaps it's a little bit too much dark, but I like it. ;)

@TrogButtz: better than the first one, this new one is quite good!

@Avvy & jaypee: thanks!

@Everybody - this was just a test map. i am not going to put this into any game. but i'll keep your suggestions in mind.

@TrogButtz - the map looks nice enough to me.

@WizzyT - i first created a new layer in photoshop and filled it completely with black colour. then i erased the parts i did not want. then i set the layer's blending mode to luminosity.

I think it would be good if you took some snow and put it on the cliff face.

Edit:

Little glaciers would be nice too.

can you put some kind of border where the water meets the cliff? like a little ripple effect?

Oh, yes, you make me realise it would be nice too. ^^ I will not modify this map (cause it's just a map for fun ^^) but I will thinking of that when I will create my game. ;)

Hello all, I want to get some opinions on one map from my game and a Menu Skin that I am working on

.

I know the text on the Menu is a little off, this is because this menu script was made for default resolution, and this was raised to 640X480.

@RyGyu60 Are those COAD tiles? Awesomeness! I don't see them used very often. Naturally, this means I like your map a lot. If I needed to make a criticism, the big tree closest to the water looks out of place. Try recolouring the leaves to match the colour of the other trees.

Now for my map!

This map is major unfinished, and full of tileset errors, I just want comments on the layout for now. I'll be going in and adding more detail once i'm sure this basic layout is ok!

I like the placement of your map, but I think you can do better with those buildings. I know you said its a very early map, so just keep that in mind. As for my map, do you think that big tree is too much? I added it to give more dimension to the forest

For some strange reason, I can't see Photobucket or Imageshack images on my side... So, I can't really comment on those screens. ><

@one hundred: The only gripe I have with your map is the different sizes of your roofing. It is best if you kept it all uniform. But other than that, your layout is fine, and it's still early, so you can still improve on it a lot.

@Liberty: Excellent use of the RTP, as usual. RTP princess, as you're known at RMN. ^^

Just testing out a new scene with a hand-painted parallax bg.

Just showcasing some basic modern RTP stuff I made today for a project, and part of a much needed modern RTP I plan to release at some point if I actually finish it and it looks decent enough. The multi-window building was edited from the RTP, the utility posts, street roads, white thingies and the manhole were done from scratch. Bus isn't mine either, just some extra visual. by all means this is a working in progress, as I started just today to mess with graphics and stuff.
