@Clareain_Christopher: I think your map is lovely, especially the wall tiles are to my liking. However, there is something off with the roofs. I think it’s some sort of perspective error. The table seems to be pixeled in a different style and might not work as well with the rest of the tileset.

But that’s really only a minor flaw in my book, since I'm kinda picky like that =)

Just something I've been working on. A mini project of sorts ( when I'm not working on Enelysion ) and a fan game. Yeah, a fan game ( shoot me ). ^^ It's basically just to mess around with battle balancing and stuff, since this game is primirarily a dungeon crawler ( I've always wanted to do one ). And use Celianna's tiles while I'm at it.

As usual, my maps are not parallaxed.

@Luchino: Woah, that's amazing! What fog do you use? What do you use for that blue lighting? And what script and image do you use for those floating particles? Also, I've never seen those tiles before. What are they? Sorry for so many questions, but those are just so fricking sweet! Some of the best maps I've ever seen. :D

If those aren't sunglasses you might want to make them somewhat transparent. If they are sunglasses that just seems weird in what looks like a medieval setting unless you are doing something along the lines of Afro Samurai or Samurai Champloo.

I should of said to ignore the map in the background, the map was just a placeholder to show the bust shot -_-

And thanks, I should actually make the glasses translucent~

So, this is pretty early on in development, here is my first town Alpina. I just finished the layout of the buildings and the foliage as well as some chest, sign post and the like. I wish I could do some custom tilesets of my own but I would never get done with the game if I had to do everything on my own, and quiet frankly am not too good at it lol :D I can't fit the entire town in a screenshot but you want to see the whole thing from the editor I have it here. I have been mulling over my Ace project for a long time (basically since it came out) and am finally happy with where things are going development wise.

@Ichi

I actually really like what you've done with those maps. Some people might say they're a little bit plain, but the overall composition is nice, so there's no real problem there.

The only improvements I can really think of would be to add a few mountains around the world map (especially if it's an alpine kind of area) and to try using a different sort of wall tile for the houses in the first two screens. The grey ones with the dark-brown supports just seem a little out of place to me, what with the rustic windows and such.

Definitely a good start, anyway! The town seems to be easy to navigate while providing a lot of exploration too, so that's a huge plus.

I would get rid of the large rocks in the water - especially the one in the second picture. It's completely blocking the stream, yet the stream is filled with water and there's no overflow out around the rock. Doesn't look right.

Just to let you know, I believe you might have meant the word "descent" instead of "decent" in your game's title -- those two words have very, very different meanings, and "Dragon's Decent" doesn't make much sense as a game title. I just wanted to bring that to your attention.

@ichi: I like that town. The trees go well with it, and it gives a nice feel.

@chaos: It's great. I could never make people that well.

I appreciate the feedback, thanks for taking the time to look over it. I wasn't sure about the rocks in the stream, I think ill take them out since it is just a 1x1 river. I'll add a few mountains around the town on the world map as well, as soon as I loaded that pic I realized that. I am not going with that title for the game, its just a place holder until I figure it out, but again I do appreciate it, its tough catching grammar being the only person XD

I believe you mean spelling. Don't worry, a common grammatical error.

Anyway, here's a house in Wake:

And a new area I started, a temple entrance:

Do you like it better with the light affect strong or not?

Plus typing that up during a wedding rehearsal on mobile doesn't help lol. I really like the temple areas you have, what lighting scripts are you using? I like the lighting level you have there.

That hard lighting would be obnoxious to me from a gameplay perspective. I'd recommend going with the lower, more ambient lighting.

The lighting is only like that in that one small area, the rest of the forest is just foggy. But thanks for your opinion, I might make it in between both of them or something, because I like both in different ways.

@Ichi: Well I'm using Kha's lighting, but you were probably referring to the overlay. I took this image and plugged it in with a fog script.

@pxlgraphic:

First of all, the above tileset is Celianna's Temple tileset. It can be found here on the forums under the Resource section. Only difference is I've converted it into a normal tileset, since all of Cel's tiles are for parallax use.

As for the other pretty special effects, why, I've written a tutorial on lighting which can be found in my signature. :]

Sorry about the plug.

Players want to be able to see. I've notice that a lot of times if you are having doubts about lighting and darkness then it's better to go with the one that has less. When you stare at the image for so long and you know what's there, you end up with a warped perspective on it after a while because you get too used to it. So yeah the one with less lighting looks better imo. Btw I really like those knight statues on the bottom there. They're pretty nifty.

Great, now that I am finally motivated again to work on my project, a new RPG Maker comes out. A part of me wants the new Maker to be really good, and the other part wants it to flop so I won't be enticed to abandon all of my work. The dream would be if you could convert your project somehow.
Imagine after all this time, its RPG Maker MV Ace?:p Even if it has huge improvements, that would just be disappointing somehow xD Whatever it is, i hope its not chibi...
