Here's a little (Fantasy) Bedroom that I've been working on about an hour yesterday, and a half hour today. I haven't added in a bathroom though (Right). Indoor plumbing in RPGS forever. :) (Notice the lack of correct shadowing, that needs to be added in). This is the bedroom of a studious sylphlike female character. I feel like something is missing in the center of the room though, but it's probably just me. Either that or the room is too large.

Yeah it's a good room, but the center is empty. Either make it a bit smaller or put a desk or something there.

Perhaps push the lower right wall back a little bit and create a small hallway leading to the bathroom?

Also.

I don't exactly understand what you're saying, but post another screenshot once it's done so I can see.

RMMV
Rimmintine: carpet doesn't work the way you're using it. Carpet is primarily made in squares, rectangles, and circles. Not the way you have the edges hugging the wall into the entrance there. You should use carpet to highlight the main parts of rooms I think in this case. Otherwise I think the room looks nice so far. I don't think the center needs anything in it as you can guess that people will be walking around in that center parts.

@Ronove Good, I'll switch it back to the wood. (It's a good thing I decided not to delete that layer!) I'll probably put the carpet and a kitty NPC in the center of the room. 3 more rooms to go! (There's triplets, and her parents' room...then there's the issue with the rest of the house. >.< Sometimes I go all out).

@Rimmintine: I had a similar problem to you in a map I did recently - I thought the middle looked empty. But really, people quite often have a bit of floorspace to walk around in and such. What I found helped was putting down a rug in the centre of the room. It manages to offset the "sea of empty space", and it can help with making the room look homey and decorated. Just a suggestion.

Apart from that, though, the room looks great. I like it a lot.

It's a pretty cool area you've got there, the only thing is the dirt steps down from the rise in the top left corner. They're kind of floating a bit, because those steps are made for a higher elevation.

On a separate, completely unrelated note, the three bolded words in your signature are "need" "your" "approval". Just thought that's kind of ironic xP

Maybe edit the tile in photoshop or use a different elevation tile?

Here's the completed bedroom map. I changed a lot of things, and I also decided to show you what the text box looks like. :) Very fantasytastic.

Pretty cool over all.

I'm not sure if it's a 'final' version of the room or not, but just a few things I noticed. The towel in the bathroom against the far right wall; I would make it

sit higher so it doesn't look funky sitting so low. There is also a plant sitting in an odd position behind your book shelf against the back wall. They are

pretty minor fixes to be sure.

Lastly, I'm also not a huge fan of the font, but that's definitely just a personal issue so no worries :)

I don't want to say change the font, because it does set the theme well, but it does take a little longer then it should to read the text. If you can find a similar but more clear font that would be good. Map wise, it's better. The rug seems a bit off center though, maybe move it left one tile.

The towel to the right of the toilet is supposed to be toilet paper, but I guess it doesn't look like that...sigh....That was the final version of the room. I don't know how she'd wipe herself without toilet paper though....even if it looks like a towel...

Just wait until you see the twin bedroom I'm about to do. :) (With the bathroom connecting two rooms). It's for triplets or quadruplets. (Three/Two boys/One girl). The whole household is going up on youtube when I'm done

It was my intention to make it slightly to the right. Makes it a little more unique. :)
