Oh, I didn't notice the other rug on the left. That makes it look better.

The towel to the right of the toilet is supposed to be toilet paper, but I guess it doesn't look like that...sigh....That was the final version of the room. I don't know how she'd wipe herself without toilet paper though....even if it looks like a towel...
Consider it an early christmas present ...

Is that? It is? IT IS TOILET PAPER! :)

Thank you so much!

Was that from the tileset you were working on? I KNEW SOMEONE WOULD THINK ABOUT TOILET PAPER! NO BATHROOMS IN RPG'S MY FOOT! (I ate 1/4th a tub of ice cream, not all the way there.....)

I SHALL TELL EVERYONE OF YOUR AWESOME TOILET PAPER! =P

*Note, this is spam. Mods find it very annoying, but for some reason, I think I'll get away with this one...

It hasn't been more than a day...

But anyway, here is the opening for my first released game on this site, The Beneath.

The window skin has been edited since then, and there are sound effects and different BGM in the game. I couldn't record audio, so I put music over the video. There are also smoother transitions between pictures.

(Again, this map has no shadow yet, because that takes me a long time to do and I wanted to get it out before I went to bed). This is the same household as the previous character shown.

So here it is:

Triplet bedroom.png

Left room:

Four studious Quadruplets live in this room.

In the lower left corner, the owner of the blue bed is working on a project for his magic class. Looks like he accidentally made the crystal rainbow! Poor kid!

Their rug is messed up because they're obviously young and running around, so there's no way to keep that perfectly straight.

Bathroom:

Toilet paper.

Right Room:

Belongs to two twin sisters, younger than the main character. And a young 3 year old sister who loves sticking teddy bears around the house. The two twins are very good with magic and learned how to make mushrooms glow (Unlike the main character. Her mush is not glowing). Their race in this game is supposed to take care of the forest, so they must learn this type of magic. :) The girls seem a bit more organized than the boys' room, but the kid in the blue bed tries to keep it clean...(See upper right corner of left room).

Looks like this family has too many kids!

@Rimmintine: They look pretty good and cosy. I like the light effects. The only thing that bothers me is the bright red thing in the bathroom; what is that meant to be? A plant? Fireballs? Red peacock feathers?

Looks like a peacock feather display to me.

Nice rooms!

It looks good. The only thing that stands out is the repetitive use of the same plant in one small area. But I like that lighting effect a lot.

The rocks and the grass making a line in the middle of the screen threw me off at first, I thought it was a cliff. It might be helpful to extend the dirt in the middle a bit below the bottom side of rocks, to get rid of any chance of confusion like that. Otherwise, it looks pretty good, I really like the way you setup the trees.

@Rimmintine - that floor tile is pretty bad, i'd change it. I'd also stick to VX tiles or try and edit the XP tiles so they blend in more.

@Luchino - looks ok but theres nothing that sets it apart from all the other parallaxed maps using the exact same resources

been working on a farm, unsure how to finish it. bit concerned that it's too similar to rootbound anyway, thoughts?

I like the area with trees and flowers in the corner. Maybe add some crops in the soil on the left and right sides?

I think some NICE criticism would be a bit better than negativity. The mix of XP and VX will not be changed. :)

Also, I think the edges of those farms need a little veggie life. The fence looks a bit odd the way you have it set up. I'm pretty sure that set has some cornfield in it. :) I think the houses could have a little bit more plant life around it as well. It's kinda just grassy withhout it.

Here is what I've been working on since I posted my last screenshots. A cutscene from Wake, showing a brief history of the world. :D

I'm working on my introduction :)
Only thing that's really bugging me is the jagged-ness of the sprite, which is the only detractor to that otherwise well done artwork.

I just want a little feedback on this map for Lunas contest~ This is supposed to be a fairy village, if you are wondering.
The pine tree sort of sticks out like a sore thumb compared to the other trees. The cave (which is what I'm assuming it is) seems rather oddly placed especially by a road. And the flowers underneath the bench also seems out of place where it expands onto the road. Otherwise it's a good start.

A few screens I've been working on...
Lookin' pretty good Nicke.

Here is an introduction map for a Halloween themed contest game I am trying to speed through. It's supposed to be quaint, dark, and a little creepy but I don't know if I've captured it properly.

Edit: Decided to add some trees to the backdrop since ground to sky was bothering me.

@pxlgraphic: I gave up watching your intro after ten seconds, because the sentences went by too fast to read and I'll tell you it's not easy to pause every two seconds.

I also don't like the intro music, too upbeat for me.

@Nicke: Those maps look nice and I like that font :3 But you spelled 'abandoned' wrong.

@Kyriaki: Those trees definitely give some creepy feels, while at the same time not being too creepy.
