I have a lag/stutter problem when playing games.

My specs are:

-780ti asus

-asus 1155 mobo

-i7

-16gb at 2400mhz (I believe)

any ideas? :/ maybe issues with the graphics card or ram? should have gone with more common hardware.

Press F1 while playing and see if Reduce Screen Flicker is checked (then uncheck it).

I tried this, as well as turning off the sounds, as well as trying different capability modes. :/

It depends on what you mean by lag or stutter.

A very common problem highlighted by a lot of users is the screen jitter which occurs even when there are absolutely no custom scripts or events on the map.

The latest thread is here:

http://forums.rpgmakerweb.com/index.php?/topic/36284-how-to-handle-the-jitters-or-at-least-make-it-bearable/

If an RM game utilizes scripts with lots of lighting effects, or has too many parallel process (especially badly made ones) running at the same time, it can cause a slowdown.

To check the FPS of your own RM project, you can use Dekita's Show FPS snippet. If the FPS is normal, but your map stutters/jitters, then your game is most likely not suffering from lag, but rather from the common problem I linked above.

"When playing games". What games? VX Ace games? XP games? All RPG Maker games? Games in other engines?

Your own games? Games by others? Give us some details.

So I somewhat found my problem. After a while, I shut down my server that only takes up one core, had a windows update, and a video card update (it was already updated recently so it wasn't that out of date. After restarting the computer, (forgot to mention this, thanks Shaz) RPG Maker VX Ace games worked flawlessly. So it was one of those three changes that fixed my issue... (few minutes later) found what it is. I let a minecraft server run in the back ground (vanilla edition) which is a single core process. Sadly, at the age of 23, I still like to play minecraft with friends and strangers time to time. It's hardly busy, but even when no one is on it it causes my RPG Maker VX Ace games to stutter. IDK why, my specs are above average (Kind of a waste of money, if anyone is thinking about going all out on a pc. on my graphics card alone spent $700 which is now purchased for $400 or so)

Conclusion so far:

Running java in background may cause RPG Maker VX Ace games to stutter

Thank you all for actually putting in effort to help me. I like this community.

Thanks,

Jason

Running ANYTHING in the background may cause RPG Maker VX Ace games (or any other games) to stutter :)

Back in action to develop the indie game that has been long overdue... Final Fallacy. A game that keeps on giving! The development never ends as the developer thinks to be the smart cookie by coming back and beginning by saying... "Oh bother, this indie game has been long overdue..." How could one resist such? So I was playing with filters and this looked interesting...

Versus the normal look...
