Hello everyone!

If we were to sell a Gameboy/Retro Pack for the store, would you be interested in buying them?
What would you like to see in it and what are your thoughts about it in general?

Below are sample screenshots of this possible future pack.
There's also a Sample Track available over here.

There will also be SAGA inspired scripts in it! Made by the awesome NeonBlack!

Comments and feedback would be appreciated~
Thank you for your time!

Well, if it's possible for me (which is not,) I will!

Lovely colors. I would buy it at a reasonable price.
I see what you did there!

I would get this pack just for more 8 and 16 bit RPG music! How many tracks do you think will be included? :3

Would save me some time, especially if it came with some battle animations. ;x I'd buy it.

EDIT: I'd also recolor the hell out of it to make it NES colors, but still!
It will definitely come out with battle animations. We guarantee that much.

From what I was told, there's a total amount of 15 tracks.

Probably not. If someone wants to have extremely crappy graphics in his game, he can simply apply a few filters in a photo editing program.

Crappy graphics and retro graphics are two different things.  There are plenty of great looking NES and Gameboy games out there with really flashy and engaging graphics.  Conversely there are plenty of newer games with some pretty ugly graphics.  I love the graphics in Final Fantasy 1-5 for example.  Final Fantasy 7, not so much.

Let's not make this a debate over good and bad graphics though, we need to gauge the interest.  Lots of people like the retro look and this is the first time I've seen GB inspired stuff.  Would love to see this completed. :D

As I grew up with GameBoy, SNES etc. games, I would surely have an extended look at it. Thing is, as this could be seen as a total conversion kinda thing, it would have to include a whole lot of stuff to be usable right from the start. You'd have to make sure to include tiles for inside / outside maps, world maps, chars, monsters, items, battlers and corresponding screens, animations, music, probably even sounds. That's quite some stuff, which would set the price for this pack (if it does come with all the aforementioned) at a rather pricey level. Still, I am really curious how this turns our and what's in it :)

I might think about a colored version, but ori gameboy style is a little too specific.

I think this is a great idea !

But I personally wouldn't buy this (even tho my jaw dropped when I saw the sample pictures because memories kicked in).

Not sure how much retro would a SNES pack be considered but that I would buy for sure (especially now since I started working again and I have some income :D )

Huh, I was NOT expecting anything like this!

But it looks, cool, and different, I like it.

I'd buy it, yeah. Graphics, music, and scripts...

There will also be SAGA inspired scripts in it!
OMGWHAT!? *explodes*

You mean SAGA as in the SaGa series? The Gameboy trilogy being called Final Fantasy Legends in the US?! I mean, I'd be more interested in SaGa Frontier 1 or 2 inspired scripts than SaGa 1-3 inspired scripts, but those games were still pretty cool (though I only played the 1st). So, an extra YES from me. (Well, a spiritual "yes" anyway)

Oh, and I just noticed you asked for what we'd like to see in it! Well, because it reminds me most of SaGa (because it's the only Gameboy RPG I really played besides Pokeymen, and because you mentioned SaGa-inspired scripts) how about a good amount of monster sprites? And some type of way to make monsters function the way they do in SaGa, because it's fun and different. Also robots, robots would be cool (and...some type of script for 'em too? Not sure how they work in SaGa 2 and 3) Also, since the graphics are "simpler" (well...I'm not saying they are easy, and less detailed stuff sometimes requires more imagination) maybe more variety in tilesets? After all, the differences between similar areas, like different types of grass aren't so noticeable in "Gameboy" style graphics, so...I dunno, throw in high-tech tiles and whatnot?

Also, will there be battlebacks? Panoramas?

I would if it were Gameboy Color or higher. Don't really care to make a game that's pea green.

Don't get me wrong. I LOVE Retro graphics. However, it could use more colors. I'd buy a graphic pack that is NES/SNES themed, but the monochrome of the Game Boy is a bit too spartan for me. The sprites in those pics look pretty good though. :)

(Although even a monochrome theme could work for certain areas in a larger retro project...)

Inspired by SaGa 2 :3

Battlebacks, definitely.

so hopefully tomorrow i get to go home from the hospital i've been here for 5 days already and it's driving me mad. I miss my family like crazy but at least I get to use my own toiletries and my own clothes. My mom is coming to visit soon i can't wait to see her cause i miss her the most. :kaojoy:
Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
