I'm down.

But, does this mean a window resize like to 256x224? I mean, sprites like this would blow up if altered to an uneven resolution.

That's SNES/NES resolution by the way, but know what I mean.

I don't believe the window will (or can be resized), since it's a pack that will be made to fit Ace's current specs (albeit in a more retro look). I still believe they'll be confined to the default settings of 544x416, with a tile size of 32x32.

Changing the resolution would probably require either breaking the default settings through the source code or using a script that alters the resolution. The first option would make it far easier for common folk to use, but would be a violation of the EULA. The second option (if possible) would keep the agreement in tact, but make it harder for people with limited script knowledge to use.

Of course, I could be completely misunderstanding this, in which case my above comment would be moot.

I would rather grab a NES pack actually even if a game boy pack would be easy to recolor. Good initiative though, I think it could work out many makers are in retro style.

It only takes one line of code to change the resolution:

Graphics.resize_screen(256,224) -->Changes resolution to 256x224

With audio and graphics (sprites, tiles, charsets, monsters) I'm guessing it will be more than $10. After all, this is supposed to be a complete pack, to replace the current RTP.

If it's as nice as the DS resource pack I'd be willing to pay the same price for it. :)

I see this pack and instantly was humming the battle theme from Final Fantasy Legend for the GB.  Would totally buy.  As for the tracks, based on my love of retro chip, would bother me due to the fact that I can hear polyphony, which is something the old hardware didn't have.  For those that don't know, polyphony is when notes overlap each other and don't just cut off before another one is played.  Yes, the notes can face out, but as soon as another note in a channel of 4 (NES/GB) would play right after, the first note that came before it would completely stop, no sound, and the next note would play.

Anyway, other than that, fantastic.  Although, if that was the case, I'd just make my own chip music. :3

Yeah I can see that. It's not really meant to exactly replicate the restrictions back then but of course your own music can be used instead too if need be.

And yes, FFL2 best gameboy game!

The summer hasn't been very nice to Oshuns free time (and mostly not something I could control) but I got a bunch of monsters done anyway and am trying to finish that off. For those asking, yes I will have a green tint, a gray tint, and a simple colored version of the resources so it's not gonna be just monochrome. I work in the shadows, but I'll get it done... it'll keep bugging me and weighing on my mind until I finish it anyway!

Yay! Could we maybe see some monsters? Of course if you would rather finish the set first that is understandable. :) I'm really looking forward to it.

There ya go, in greenscale because coloring will be done after I do all the enemy sprites. Getting there, I think I have 8 more? I am unsure I'd have to check the list. Some editting is still needed too. I'll get to it!

That skeleton is wicked! I love it.

There was talk of audio as well. I think the idea was something around 15+ tracks. That seems awefully small, especially when a good portion will probably be battle music (standard, boss fight, special boss fight, final epic fight), and then there's game over, beginning title music, inn music, and victory music.

Unless those are in addition to the 15 tracks.

Has this changed to include more tracks? If not, are there plans to create a larger separate audio pack (in this style) down the road that people can buy?

Edit: I'm assuming, of course, that the audio will be handled in a sort of oldschool vibe that harkens back to the style of GB and GBA, and won't easily work with current RTP and audio tracks.

That sword is looking kind of wonky, but I'm impressed with your work on this so far, overall.

Oh I'm aware of the sword. That's gonna be fixed! Otherwise thanks for the comments.

More music? You guys are neeeedy lemme be lazy D:

Haha well I will see what I can do. I'll finish pixels first though. I work full time so it's not quite as fast as I'd like but I'd like to make progress!

Oh, this is a great idea.
My humble suggestion is to make the sprites in the style of the GameBoy Color.
That way you have more options to make your game: GBC style, NES style, and it would be easier to just aply a simple filter to make the sprites look like monochromatic GB style, not the other way around, you know, to color each sprite.

so hopefully tomorrow i get to go home from the hospital i've been here for 5 days already and it's driving me mad. I miss my family like crazy but at least I get to use my own toiletries and my own clothes. My mom is coming to visit soon i can't wait to see her cause i miss her the most. :kaojoy:
Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
