Hi,

I purchased Pixel Myth Germania from Game Dev Fort back in the day and I normally purchase Non-RM licenses. I'm working on a Non-RM game and I'm interested in using this tileset. But I can't seem to prove whether I purchased a Non-RM license or not. The EULA is a bit vague and the invoice doesn't mention anything. Was a Non-RM license offered? And if so, is there a way to determine if I bought the Non-RM license? Thanks.

What was the cost of the pack? That should be enough to tell if you bought a non-RM license or not. Can you post the whole EULA here?

As far as I remember all packs from gamedevfort were the non-RM versions.
But only someone from Degica can really confirm that.

I'll see what I can dig up when people are in office on Monday. I was fairly sure that all gamedevfort stuff was ok for non-rm, but I need to confirm.

@Sharm also might remember if there was a non-rm version offered for this. If there was, then the gamedevfort version was it.

It mentions that the pack can be used with any game development software that retains the company's rights. Is that just in reference to needing to encrypt the assets?

Thanks.

You're in the clear, no worries. The Game Dev Fort version was not RM specific. I vaguely remember trying to take out all the RPG Maker language from the EULA but I might have missed some. You can use it in other engines that are not Degica or Enterbrain related.

@redspark the phrase "any engine that retains the company rights" was most probably there for three reasons:
1) the shop resources usually need to be encrypted, so they can't be used in an engine that has no encryption.
Based on the fact that RM's encryption itself is low and sufficient, that should count for any engine that at least tries to protect its games.
2) you cannot use it in any pirated engine, you need to have a licence for the engine where you plan to use them.
3) there were a very few (and now basically forgotten) engines in the past where the EULA stated that using any resource in that engine gave the engine developer the right to use the resource as well. Those engines are now in the past because no one other than they themselves liked such a phrasing, and this restriction was one of the common results against those. You can't use these resources in an engine where the engines EULA requires transfer or copy of the licence.

I'm using Game Maker Studio 2. So it shouldn't be a problem.
