I understand what you are saying. When I was a lot younger I had played before some games where I couldn't talk to someone else for a week or even longer based on what happened in the game, in multiplayer games. Then in single player games same thing but based on switching turns and disagreeing who should have the next turn and for how long.

Funny enough with Mario Party 1, I don't think I had that problem, but I can believe what your saying happened back then to a lot of people as Boo especially does make one player super happy and another frustrated.

    Banished, lately.
*dinnng!* Yes, I know the stockpile is full! I'm on it! Just hold on a minute! ... jeez....
*dinnng!* No! I don't care about the nomads... go away!
    XD

Caesar 3, some time ago, OpenTTD before that....
city-building games, management games, those you can boot up in a minute and hook on for hours.

merchant run in Age of Pirates 2, without fast travel.
just set out to sea, set sail, and listen to the music.
    (prevents running into pirates too!)

League of Legends probably, I like playing it with friends through eSport platform. Every match is like an entire multiplayer action-RPG condensed into 20-to-50 minutes. It's an addictive game of cat and mouse that makes me feel like a criminal mastermind.

Dragon Quest games are this for me. Very chill experiences, like revisiting an old friend. Just good old fashioned RPG gameplay, with none of the bells or whistles.

I have been a big fan of Spyro the Dragon since I was a kid. Seeing the original Three games remade does fill me with a bit of warmth. It takes me back to a time when games were more light-hearted and creative. I never play games anymore where the heroes are just as colourful and likable as the villains. they just barely make games like that, and it's nice to go back to this franchise every once in a while when I'm feeling down.

Nier: Automata gives me a warm feeling in the sense that I can feel the warmth of my blood pouring from my bleeding heart.

The Jisei visual novel series by Sakevisual kind of give me a warm feeling, just because the gameplay feels nostalgic for me, the characters are fun and entertaining, the humor is good. (It's a paranormal mystery series, but it's enjoyable.) That's not to say there's never any angst - there definitely is, plus, you know, the whole murder thing - but in the moments between the angst, I feel good playing it.

I also kind of get that feeling from the Uncharted franchise? Like, they're just good old fashioned action adventure games, the characters are fun, the stories are fun, I love the relationship between Nathan Drake and Sully especially. IDK, you just can't go wrong with a treasure hunting plot in my book.

Persona 5 has moments that would fit this thread pretty well.

For me, that was Darkside detective. Just the light atmosphere in there with the humour and the events somehow felt warm and cosy, despite you trying to fix some supernatural issues going on in town)

When I'm super depressed Majoras mask because doing the side quests and changing the world in that game helps me realize I have the same abilities in my own life.

When I'm not super bummed similar answers to the rest Harvest moon, animal crossing, and rune factory although I suspect that the reason why those games have that effect on me is similar to majoras mask.

Tokyo Mirage Sessions ♯FE. Yeah it has "darkness" in the storyline, but it just has such a bright, silly, and uplifting group of characters.

Seriously one of the most underrated JRPGs of the last generation.

There's a free game on Steam called Princess Remedy in a World of Hurt which gives me a warth feeling comparable to Undertale. It's free and like an hour long, so you should definitely check it out.

It has a sequel that's very similar (but not free).
