I have that game on my backlog. Any good?
I liked it.

Just make sure you get a cup/glass of (insert drink here) for the overlong exposition dump at the very start (took me half-hour, but I read it all), and then set your shop up, and then buy stuff to sell or go dungeoneering for it. Both options have their own pros and cons, which you'll see for yourself. Half shop sim, Half dungeon crawler - a weird mix.

Sadly, the localisation was done pretty well, so there's no Engrish. I know I should be happy about that, but I love that stuff.

The Granstream Saga for PS1

----------------------------------------

You played as Eon, a red haired anime guy with a magical gauntlet and no face. (None of the characters had faces honestly, it was kinda creepy cause the 3D Models were PRETTY GOOD for the time.) It was a standard top down RPG for the most part, but the battles were action based. Your "Sceptre" or as I call it, the damn glove. Could contain armors and weapons you found through the game, effectively being a wrist mounted "Magic Pants" inventory system. The soundtrack was pretty great as well AND it had two endings.

Also it's one of the first games I owned as a teen with animated nudity. Like, really close to be full frontal shower scene nudity. Which was a big deal when I was a young lad.

I have a copy of it and play it over time to time. I'd recommend it to people. :)

While I'm certain it was far from never heard of, I run into people all the time who have never heard or played the two Lost Kingdoms games on the Gamecube. They  aren't master pieces and were lacking in some areas. Story was leave or take and I wish there was a LOT more side quests and levels in general. But the gameplay and battle system is so freaking fun and I would go bananas over a game that implements something similar.

Incidentally yesterday, I was remembering having seen this game in a *gasp!* videogame magazine, so I tried to look it up to no avail (because I couldn't remember its name).

Kickmaster, a fantastic action rpg for the NES with a ridiculous plot. It had a lot of cool moves you learned as you leveveled up and many spells to play around with.

I looked it up, that Game Dev Tycoon looks great! A simulation/rpg about developing games where you follow a developer from his Commodore 64 roots until the present. Now I just have to see if it runs on my grandpa computer.

THAT GAME WAS ON NICK ARCADE DUDE I REMEMBER IT
I have no idea what that is...Though I guess it's some sort of gaming show on Nickelodeon...?

Here in Argentina we had Top Kids. It was a pretty okay show, but man did it had a Mortal Kombat fetish. They had character bios, gave away dolls action figures of the characters... then again, anyone who saw MK back then was wowed by how "realistic" it looked.

But I don't want to get TOO off-topic, so here's another one(s): most non Harvest Moon Natsume games. Seriously, they made some fantastic games back then. Just to pick one: Shatterhand for the Nes. There was some sort of plot to it, but seriously...who cares. The game was a pretty neat platformer about a guy who could punch through anything. See a soldier? You punch it to death. See a wall? You punch it to death. See a mounted machine gun? You punch its bullets to death!(and the machine gun too)

The game also featured a system where you could summon different helper robots and buy powerups.

Look at that beautiful spritework:

Note 1: Anyone familiar with Scott Pilgrim might remember that after splitting up, they rename their band Shatterband. Yeah, this is where it comes from.

Note 2: Maybe this post should go into the outdated games thread? Ehh..they overlap.

Note 3: I actually like the Harvest Moon games, but they definitely don't fit the "no one heard about" theme of this thread.

I've never played the game, instead I watched a Japanese Let's Play of a very obscure game called Moon a few years ago. You basically play a little boy who was playing a video game with the typical "hero must save world from evil" rpg elements, before he was sucked into the game itself, where the "hero" he used to control is nothing but a threat and nuisance (killing enemies that are actually harmless, causing mischief to castle ground residents, etc) and he has to restore peace himself at the same time learning to grow as a child and learning to love these video game characters and your so-called "enemies", while trying to stop the "hero" (who shares the same name as your little boy character, who gave said name to the "hero" at the beginning).

It's kinda laid back and focuses more on the story and character interaction side instead of full rpg (you do fight enemies at the very beginning but that's the point of the in-game video game. You don't fight at all for the entire rest of the game). Being a peaceful sentient instead of a button mashing aggressor. One of the parts that hit me hard was the very ending to which, I won't spoil for you (the wiki can do that).

OMG I FELL IN LOVE WITH THOSE PRERENDERED BACKGROUNDS AND CHARACTER SPRITES Q_____________________________________________Q <3

Ahhhhhhhh this game sounds GREAT! <3

The World Ends With You, anybody? Am I the only one...?

It's an awesome game for the Nintendo DS... it has spectacular music and a epic plotline... Nobody?

Really, this game is one of those "hidden gems": they're (in my opinion) awesome, but nobody seems to know about them.

Loved 4X games. So Masters of Orion were great indeed. I know them! :D

It was like playing K-240 but maybe a little more complicated.

A LOT of ways to finish the game. I loved that.

I didn't say "nobody's heard of that", just "way less people than it should've". Really, it should have as many liking it as CoD.

It's the same as Ace Attorney: bad graphics? gameplay isn't running and shooting at people? it has a plotline you have to follow? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! (Or at least, this my experience as a 14-years-old italian gamer, which has found only one person that knew both series. And I know lot of people).

Ultimately what it boils down to is that TWEWY is much more well known than Gotcha Force and Flying Dragon. Despite its relative obscurity, TWEWY has a die hard following.

so hopefully tomorrow i get to go home from the hospital i've been here for 5 days already and it's driving me mad. I miss my family like crazy but at least I get to use my own toiletries and my own clothes. My mom is coming to visit soon i can't wait to see her cause i miss her the most. :kaojoy:
Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
