Hello, i bought the program from a steam sale yesterday. as i have been looking around and watcing youtube videos i can see the style of most of the tilesets are anime. i was in the intention of creating a post apocaliptic type game so i bought the modern and sci fi tilesets. but they dont seem to add any "monsters" or weapons usable for what i am thinking. is there anyone here who can point me in the right direction. what troblems me is that the map tiles all look like something medeval :D . and the monsters something like high fantasy

Secondly regarding interface. i have read that point and click takes tedius scripting can this be added after most of the content and all the world has been drawn without rewriting the whole thing?

There are a couple of threads here with post-apocalyptic resources.  A great place to start with any search for resources is Granny's Lists.  Here is her collection of free modern and futuristic resources and I think you'll find some post-apocalyptic stuff there.  http://forums.rpgmakerweb.com/index.php?/topic/9843-grannys-lists-modern-and-futuristic-resources/

I have no idea about your second question.

You might find this thread gets moved as it is more about resource requests and project development than general discussion.

you might define what you mean by "point and click" - just general mouse support or a specific game type?

Because if you'te talking about a game tike I assume that's something similiar to the old Lucasarts adventures - and those would not only requirea complete rewrite of the engine but also different types of maps. Unless you already have a team for this it's unlikely that you could do that on your own...

But if you're only talking about mouse support, then there are already several mouse scripts available for addition to any game. The biggest problem adding them would be the battle system if you choose a custom battle system instead of the default - most mouse systems are designed for the default plus perhaps one or two of the dozen available custom battle systems (at max), so you'll have to be a bit careful when choosing scripts - but al that could easily be done after you made a good part of the game with keyboard controls only.

I do agree on genre's.

Modern day

Dystopian future

Wasteland

1920's - Gangland
Western

Superhero

As just a few examples of undersold areas.

Though you have to remember that high fantasy is the most popular genre to sell to, probably closest to that is modern day.

I am actually surprised there is so little in the way of superhero material out there considering the growing fanbase at the moment.

In essence if you are an artist you have a market, and a market that is generating a larger and larger demand. It is a good time to be able to do tilesets! :)

On scripting I disagree. RPG Maker is extremely customizable I am finding, lots you can do with it and lots of potential there for more if you are, can hire, or can interest a coder.

well i grew up playing games like fallout I and II Wasteland lately stalker and the new fallout crap. i love movies like mad max and terminator etc. i just want to make a dark humor open ended rpg. but im no artist so tilesets are the way to go. i am more of a creative kind of guy making story characters and background. but this program opened up a whole new dimention for me. becuse this is lika an old scenario editor with alot of stuff. but it will take me ages to puzzle this together and make a working tileset wich i can work with.

regarding point and click i just ment the character would follow the mouse when clicked to a point instead of a clunky keayboard interface.

bear in mind i just looked into the program and it will be months before i have something remotely passable for an alpha.

one question i have... i was trying to make mountains i had some that take 4 tiles each but no way of taking the 4 tiles at once and pasting them instead of tediusly pasting them down one by one?

1) that is basic mouse functions - there are some scripts with these available, but you'll have to check compatibility after you start using other script.

2) Of course you can select several tiles at the same time. I suggest you do the official mapping tutorials to learn about shift-clicking and right-clicking.

DON'T try to figure it out without a tutorial to follow - that is a rather powerful mapping tools, and there are differences what happens depending on the moment you hold or release shift while selecting or placing a tile - resulting in four different mapsegments placed when using shift.

If you look for shift-click-mapping in the forum you should find additional tutorials, but do the official support-tutorials first.

Back in action to develop the indie game that has been long overdue... Final Fallacy. A game that keeps on giving! The development never ends as the developer thinks to be the smart cookie by coming back and beginning by saying... "Oh bother, this indie game has been long overdue..." How could one resist such?
