I just bought a new laptop and planned to move my game development onto the laptop. I put the game files onto a portable SSD and transferred them.

All the game files from the original folder seem to be there.

The issue now is that the game will randomly crash when I'm testing. I keep getting the same "Cannot set property 'x' of null" message but don't know what it means.

Has anyone else encountered this before? The game works perfectly fine on my desktop computer still. I'm not understanding what is missing or why it's crashing.

I've confirmed as well that the pixi-filters plugin is installed and in the same setting as with my desktop.

The issue only seems to occur every so often, so for some reason it's able to work just fine in a few cases. seems related to images but I'm kinda at a loss as to what is causing it.

Had the same "Cannot set property 'x' of null" error, but now after transfering games files to another PC, but when I reordered positions of plugins on plugin list. Check that.

Any "of null" error means that the engine is missing a data object that is referenced in game.

that type of error usually has nothing to do with the game files themselves, it is in most cases a configuration error.
there is a small chance that one of your files was damaged during transfer, resulting in false data inside.

other than that I can't think of a direct cause as long as you installed the programs correctly on the new computer.
You might want to change this to a general bughunt in case this is an error in the game itself instead of a problem of the new computer.

Thank you! I ended up figuring out how to solve the issue. Seems there was an update that somehow invalidated a few of my older plugins. After updating (and sadly removing two good ones), I’m happy to say I’m back up and running again!

So I managed to scare my chief. Between shifts I had an appointment with my psychiatrist, so prior to it I'd told him "If I ain't coming today, they've kept me there.". Then as I was asleep, my phone died. So I overslept and through the entire time I was unreachable.
I spent so much time toiling in VX Ace frankensteining scripts together only for MV to come along and just... have everything.

The overworld tool system in particular I thought was gonna take me a million years to recreate, but nope. Thanks Moghunter.
Going to go live way earlier than usual tonight, pretty much in 20 minutes, purely because I'm bored. :LZSlol:

So... I'm gonna be a parent... XD
