Hello,

I am trying to figure out how to get an enemy to protect another, i.e guard/shield them.

My current set up in troops is:

1 boss

2 grunts

I want the grunts to "step in" and take the damage when the boss is attacked. Is this even possible?

I've set up a "immortal" state on the boss until the grunts are killed but this doesn't fit well with my scene. The boss is just a general and the grunts are soldiers so it makes more sense for the grunts to defend their boss rather than the boss being "magically linked" to them.

as a further note I am using Yami's battle symphony for sideview battles.

Have you tried adding a state to the grunts with the "Substitute" flag on?

I looked into this but it seems the substitute flag causes the soldiers to protect each other if they too have low health.

Also the substitute flag still allows the boss to take damage until the conditions of substitute take effect. I am looking more of an active "guard" command where by the two guards take the damage for the boss.

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
