Currently, i'm using a trial version of
Vx Ace. What i was trying to do was
have the main player, talk to a npc.
It is suppose ro tell the main player
what his current level is, using the
show text.

I've been searching all day for an
answer and havent found a good
Way to do it yet.

I started out learning this program
using VX and things were going good
until i needed the level information
After a lot of searching, i finally found
out that VX has a bug in it, preventing
the user from getting that information.
That's when i got the trial of VX Ace.

The thing is, they both do the same
thing. NOTHING. From what i gathered,
when using show text, you just type in
\V[0]. Zero represents the first actor
in the list. All i get returned is 0.

I have tried setting my level to 10, to
see if i could get that level returned
in show text but no such luck. I leveled
leveled up to 3 by playing the game and
still got nothing but 0.

Someone else suggested using the
Common Events in the database to
get that information. They said to put
this in the common events

Control Variables: [0001] = [Eric]'s Level

Eric being the name of my first actor
They never said how to get that information into a variable and then
into show text.

Can anyone here please help me with this? It is driving me nuts.

Take in mind that i am very new to
Rpg Maker so i may need exact
instructions. Thankyou

The problem you are having is that using the \V[0] command is calling for display of Variable 0, not the actor. Because you have not set that variable, you are getting a value of 0.

Control Variables: [0001] = [Eric]'s Level - that part is where you are putting the value into the variable.

If you mean you literally don't know how to do that, you use the Control Variable event command on page 1 of the event tabs. In the settings for the variable, you are going to select Game Data, Actor, and then you can select the actor you want and choose Level.

Then for the text, you will call \V[1], as variable 1 is where you have put that level information, in this case.

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
