Are there some commands or eventing elements to get party members that are following the main character to move in certian ways.

In my case I was setting up a ladder event and I got it to work nicely for the main character.  However, the follower simply turns at whatever angle and sorta gets dragged up the ladder rather than appearing to climb it.

Basically I use an event if the player touches it and is facing up to fix his direction and set move route to move him up the ladder than turn off direction fix afterwards.  When going back down the I just use the event in reverse more or less.

Is there a way to event command the followers to do the same as the main player?

There's probably a simpler one, but a fix I can think of is if he is touching the ladder, remove other characters from the party, then control their events to move up the ladder!

Why are you making this so difficult?
All you have to do is to use some of the Ladder-Tiles, and the player will automatically always look up when moving on them, even without direction fix.

There are some pre-defined ladder tiles on the B-Tab in the dungeon and interior tilesets, but if you have defined your own tileset, simply go to the tile definition in the database, click on "Ladder" (3rd Button right side) and then select which tiles you want to force direction north with.

Well originally it was that the way characters could just turn side to side while on the ladder.  It kinda looked odd.  So I was trying to avoid that by using the event stuff.  Now though considering the even stranger look of followers using this method I think I will simply go and use the ladders as set up.

However, the underlying question I'm curious about remains.  How can one control one's followers effectively in terms of directing them outside of controlling only the main player?

As ChaoticLapras noted above I noted you  can use a fake follower via making an event clone of them.  I imagine that works ok in cutscene dialogue.  I think one would have to "gather the party" command to essentially hide the followers inside the main player's body.  Would that even work that way? Hm.  Is there any simplier method of handling that sort of thing?

There are also scripts available that allows you to control the followers.  I can't remember for certain, but I believe they allow you to control their move routes.  I would search in the scripts for "move followers" or something like that.

there is a script that allows you to modify the "caterpillar" (that what your follower movement is also called), it was made and discussed sometime about a month ago or so here on the forum.

Without scripts, you can only gather the followers into the player and then switch off the followers to prevent them from reappearing when the player moves.

second page, second block "change player followers".
One of the tips in my "starting point for new users" (linked in my signature) ia to take one or two week for just experimenting and left-clicking and right-clicking every button and part of the editor, to learn what options are available. Because just knowing there was something speeds up your game development later a lot...

Thank you Andar that helps very much.

Actually I already have your tutorial (from your sig) already bookmarked and am taking advantage of it.  Thank you again for your clairification about the ladder / party handling info.

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
