So I just want to talk about introductions, and what you guys have done for your game intros.
I don't want to just throw a person straight into my game, but I don't want them to be bombarded by the history of the games world all at once.
I have 2 game intros for 2 games I am working on (1 is much shorter than the other

)
(treasure hunter style fantasy rpg)
First Scenario:
cutscene: walk up to ruin, the 2 main characters have a small chatter before entering ruins...
There is a few cutscenes and treasures in the ruins explaining about random encounters e.c.t. until you get to the main map, you take an item and you start running while the ruin caves in with a few cutscenes for extra 'drama'.
After that they go to the nearby village....
I feel that this intro here, it has a lot of the feel for an intro, but it doesn't seem to have much direction
Do you think that this is an issue?
(alternative fantasy style rpg)
You play an unknown hero and you are in what seems to be a warzone, buildings burning e.c.t. and a cutscene occurs. an unknown enemy approaches you, you battle for awhile but end up defeated, there is a bit of dialogue between characters before the screen fades out.
You get woken up by the second main character, seems you were having a 'dream' as you walk out of the house, the screen scrolls up and shows the title screen, and you enter the village on your way.
again is feel this leaves the game open but with my 2 games intros I want people to explore the land and uncover the story for themselves.
Do you see any issues with my intros?
Have you encountered any issues with your own intros?
