Greetings, fellow bipeds. I hope I have the right forum. If not, please excuse me; I'm new here. I think I have the right one. I also tried looking for this in the forums before posting, but I couldn't find anything along the lines I was wanting.
Do any of you remember the NES Dragon Warrior II (Dragon Quest 2 in Japan)? It had a little setup in which the world map sprite of a dead companion would change from the regular sprite to a ghost that would follow you around until you resurrected said companion.
I have made a number of attempts to do this myself, including a Common Event parallel process (they'd change to ghosts, but wouldn't change back after being revived), trying my very inexperienced hand at a script (battle end = game crash) and using move route (until I realized I couldn't assign it to anyone other than the lead character).
If it helps at all, the game I am making doesn't, with only a couple of exceptions, force you to take any companions along. Any companions hiding in the game will join you if you can find them, but having them along is entirely your choice. I tried just using a general party character command for creating ghost followers, but am not fluent in Ruby.
I don't want dead party characters gone for good; I just want them to appear as ghosts when inflicted with Death. Any help anyone here can provide will be greatly appreciated.
