Hello,I've been trying to figure this out for a while now and haven't had any luck so I'm hoping someone here can help or point me in the right direction.
So as stated in the thread's title I'm trying to give my characters the ability to actively move around the battlefield during battles. Similar to how it's done in The legends of heroes: trails of cold steel and Grandia. To give an example say that character A just started his turn and you select the attack option, normally character A would run-up to the enemy, swing his sword, and then run right back to his starting space. In Grandia or trails of cold steel however, Character A would: Run over to the enemy, swing his sword, and then stay in the new position he moved to when he attacked the enemy. This adds a bit of realism to the combat and makes battles a little more dynamic.

So after looking around the forums and messing around with note tag commands from plugins I managed to recreate this effect, I'll be it limited. You see I managed to get them to move freely and stay there until their next turn. However, at the start of the next round of turns, the characters return to the original position they were in at the start of the battle. That and when the enemies are too close the characters will face the wrong way when the attack, they also tend to overlap with each other if any character moves to the same location another character already moved to.

I figure that the way to fix these issues is either through plugins or note tag commands but I have no idea where to start, so I'm hoping some might be able to point me in the right direction on fixing them.

I know this post is super long but thank you for taking the time to read through this! and another thank you in advance for any help I get.

free movements like that reminds me of "Tales of Symphonia " that has something like that.
good luck on your project if you are able to get it done nicely.

there is a sideview for free movemens of MOG LMBS (Linear Motion Battle System)
which is sideview free walking like "Summon Night, Sword Story" or "Tales of Phantasia"

but something in the video is nice as well if you can make it done.

@gothicvoid Hey thank you for the reply. I think we talked about all this before so it's good seeing you again. Anyway I figured it be like that and I am willing to pay for it if it comes down to that. I was actually looking for a programmer to help with this before I posted this here, LoL. so far I haven't found anybody yet. do you think you could recommend someone for me? sorry, I know I'm asking a lot of you and thanks again for the reply!:rhappy:

@ShadowDragon Funny you should mention that my game originally started out as a tales of fan game and still technically is but when I started playing trails of cold steel I instantly fell in love with its battle system and decided to add it on to the game. It still has a whole bunch of tales references in though.

Our latest feature is an interview with... me?!

People4_2 (Capelet off and on) added!

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
Can someone recommend some fun story-heavy RPGs to me? Coming up with good gameplay is a nightmare! I was thinking of making some gameplay platforming-based, but that doesn't work well in RPG form*. I also was thinking of removing battles, but that would be too much like OneShot. I don't even know how to make good puzzles!
one bad plugin combo later and one of my followers is moonwalking off the screen on his own... I didn't even more yet on the new map lol.
