About This Game:

Set two years following the events of The Great Gaias, this stand-alone installment in the world of the Codex Eternal showcases the circumstances surrounding the northern Osirian Empire and their acceptance of a new world order ravaged by war and betrayal.

Gjallarhorn aims to connect the playstyle of the D20 Ruleset and the JRPG in what we are calling a Western Fusion JRPG. Weaving a world where every non-player character has a routine and schedule, we hope to bring a completely unique and customizable experience with every playthrough utilizing choice and consequence.

Story:

Two years following the Second Great War, the Osirian Empire wrestles with finding a new ruler. While each faction sees a different future for their people, decisions are made by strength, not through ideals, and only the dead have seen the end of war.

Lost in a strange land you know nothing about, you must forge a destiny in this harsh environment. Every choice has a consequence that could shape the course of history in the coming struggle. Will you pick a cause in the coming conflict or venture out on your own to seek fortune, fame and glory?

We just got our booth approval for PAX West (September 3rd to 6th) so if anyone is attending be sure to stop by Horizon's End to play Gjallarhorn or The Great Gaias.

We are also looking for a programmer for some bug fixes if anyone is interested please take a look at our thread found here.

Hello everyone! I am one of the beta testers of gjallarhorn. (Signed up without regret kek)

Well since i got permission to upload some pictures here they come

Gathering system. If you exit you can just try to gather again... and it can help you grind job points up. There is a myriad of jobs in the game too (dont want to post mine since i unlocked them all) but this, with enough time investment, can be a good alternative to maxing them without combat.

The environment is quite nice too.

Strong pets... if you game the system. Even better with a companion... but they can be a good way to help people that don't want to play with companions. If you are like that be warned, especially if you are a mage player like me. Solo mages have it really brutal at the beginning.

Day and night cycle... and things also change depending on day and night... you should also consider to sleep.

Enemies have classes too in the wild... and in story. Even beyond currently tested content.

All in all the game is currently fun, though i will recommend not to play solo as a pure mage early. Its brutal. And the time investment to be a strong mage is really, really huge.

Currently Pots is still looking for more beta testers! If you guys feel like it, join Pots discord (You can find it in his signature). I promise that none of us bite.... maybe (I swear teddy doesn't bite either, he is a hugger). No but seriously. Its pretty fun.

Thats it from me for now. Wish you all a good day.

Phase 3 of the Gjallarhorn closed beta is now live. At this point we don’t expect many issues pertaining to game systems, so the focus of phase 3 and beyond will be story thread continuity and game balance. Because Gjallarhorn has a choice and consequence-based story design we want to make sure every story thread is tied up nicely.

This will be the last chance to join the closed beta so if you are interested, please join our discord and private message me (Pots Talos). Phase 4 will only be made available to people who are currently testers and those who join up for phase 3.

This game looks actually decent, unlike those sham Aldorlea crap games that have flooded the market.

Hello!

It certainly has a lot of effort put in from the developers. I can say as much... And they work a lot on it. Though they have to work with limited ressources they are doing their best. They did make another game called The Great Gaias which you can check out as well.

Aldorlea Games are... a touchy subject for me. Bought a whole bunch on steam but i haven't managed to put enough effort into any to actually finish them. They are.. boring usually. A friend of mine told me some of their games were good, but he did agree the newer ones weren't exactly up to par. But we have wildly different tastes in games so yeah.

The only one i remember even playing more than a couple hours is shadows and lies. But most aldorlea games i bought were underwhelming and i wouldn't think about recommending them. Unless you get a really good steam deal i wouldn't recommend them. Usually.

Anyways i went on a little rant. I am sorry for that lol

Have a good day anyone.

After two long delays we are finally ready to announce our official release date for Gjallarhorn, January 10th, 2023.
We were really hoping to get the game out in November of this year but due to personal obligation Gjallarhorn had to take a backseat for some time. We are still thinking about releasing an early access version sometime during November, if so, I’ll make another announcement letting everyone know.

To celebrate this announcement we are holding a week long sale for The Great Gaias at 50% off on Steam!

They're larvae, not fightae, honest!
I've made a big emphasis on visually representing things to make the game as accessible as possible.

Grimoires will consist of 5 - 10 pages of skills (still finalizing that max number)

Since each actor is able to take multiple actions per turn, each skill will cost 1-5 pages
This prevents more powerful skills from being uber spammed during an actors turn.
Cats are so easy. I noticed the gray one would never nap in the office while I worked, so I put a blanket on the spare chair in here and now she won't leave.
