ASMR is an abbreviation for Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response. It is that tingly and incredibly relaxing sensation you get from your scalp down your spine whenever you experience something that triggers such a response. Unfortunately, there has been little scientific research done to better understand this strange and high inducing sensation. But as far as we know, its relaxing as f*** and that's good.

An ASMR Trigger is commonly triggered through sound. Though there are some cases where triggers happen due to smell or touch but these are rare at best. Not everyone has ASMR. There are some who could not feel this sensation at all even though they try their best to, while others who are so into ASMR have built a tolerance to it, thus making them immune to the tingles.

Triggers are varied. Some like the sound of running water while some like it when people whisper directly into their ear. My personal favorite would be blowing a gentle stream of air into my ear or the sound coming from the fluffy end of a mimikaki.

Anywho, anyone here know ASMR? Wanna share triggers? Know an ASMRtist who is really good? What's your favorite trigger?

The first time I heard Cali on Youtube I had one of those moments. Also with Braille by Regina Spektor, but that made me cry as well so I'm not sure if its the same thing. :3

Huh ... didn't even realize this had a name.

I get them every now and then, usually also accompanied with a brief goosebumps effect on my arms. Mostly it happens with music, and usually as the song builds up and hits a crescendo.

Last one happened just earlier today when I was listening to with FFIX's Melodies of Life (w/ vocals).

From what I know it's only associated with relaxation that gets you sleepy instead of like, goosebumps though. But I could be wrong. For me it's quite a lot of things, from the sound of the rain or sound of paper flipping, keyboard typing or whispers. Guess I'm easy to please hah.

My favorite sounds are sounds of the ocean, of rain, and of rain STICKS. <3  Also, there's such a thing as ASMR Let's Plays.  No really!  Here's an LPer playing a relaxing game. Made me want to start such a project.
Ooh! Try Ephemeral Rift. He does ASMR Let's plays from time to time. He mostly does Beer Reviews and some Artsy stuff but he's one of the best that I know!

Bad things are going down whenever I get a tingling sensation down my spine; it's like a sixth sense telling me something is wrong. (clearly probably not the thing you are talking about, though it is described perfectly and doesn't feel painful or anything; just an observation I've had whenever such a feeling occurs.) I get focused and alert when I get such a feeling, because in the past things such as home break ins, near-miss almost car crashes and my daughter falling and breaking her arm have occurred soon after I've experienced such a sensation.

The sound and smell of rain does it for me. I've been told that when rain hits soil it releases pheromones that give you that good relaxed feeling, I also may not be talking about the same thing. I'm with Lunarea in that I didn't know that this actuallly had a name.

It's rare for me to get goosebumps, but it does still happen from time to time, usually from hearing some amazing music or a trailer/game with good musical accompaniment.

The Attack on titan opening, the music track named "Dark Impetus" from KH: Birth by Sleep and several of the TSFH pieces do it. Just Beneath the Skin (a game by Jeremy C. Solatrus) also gave me goosebumps.

Listening to CatalystEXE speak is amazing. Don't know if it's okay to post this kind of stuff here, as it's definitely NSFW but if anyone has a problem with it I'll remove it.

All joking aside (well, sort of), a good ASMR trigger for me is the bridge in Holy Touch by Foxy Shazam, when the guitar hits an extremely high note and the singer matches it. It's pure heaven.

Typically, music triggers it. It's always slightly different depending on what I'm doing and what happens around me. I can trigger a slightly lesser version of it every so often if I focus on it. When I manipulate my body's innate energy, I can feel it through my entire body (Metaphysical stuff). Different types of music trigger variations, usually in strength of the feeling, based on how much I like it and how good it is.

It has multiple effects, based on what triggers it, from relaxing to focusing.

so hopefully tomorrow i get to go home from the hospital i've been here for 5 days already and it's driving me mad. I miss my family like crazy but at least I get to use my own toiletries and my own clothes. My mom is coming to visit soon i can't wait to see her cause i miss her the most. :kaojoy:
Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
