"Good VS Evil: The Fateful Curse" is a Sidescroller Arcade Shooter game with RPG elements.
 

Two regal sisters were ruling the land of Erpegia together. They were keeping the peace for all the land.
However, one fateful day the peace was broken. Chaos Master Snix has cursed the younger sister making her evil.
The older sister had no idea what happened and was trying to stop her, but with no results.
The only solution was to use magic and banish the evil sister. However, during that process some of the residents were cursed by the evil sister.
. . . And Good and Evil sides were created . . .
 
Many years later the Castle of Benevolence is under attack.
The older sister loses hope for return of her younger sister and decides to end this once and for all. 
. . . And the final battle is about to begin . . .

Known Issues: Dekita's Heavily Optimized Input System can sometimes throw an error, however the game seems to be working perfectly.


                          (This is not my fault - the same issue was happening with any other project I've tried with this system)

- Removed 'Bullet Limit' - You may now shot as fast as you want, without any limits!

- Added credit to Dekita, because for some reason I forgot to do so, sorry!
- Fixed damage dealt to boss from normal attack - it was set to deal 1 damage per bullet
   no matter on character level - it is set to deal damage according to the Game Manual,
   so that means, that the final boss will be quicker to defeat
- Boss's firing rate has been slightly increased to make it more difficult
- Boss HP bar position has been lowered
- Boss is shooting projectiles from his (her) hand, not from 'OUT OF NOWHERE!' anymore
- Improved grammar in dialogues, because they were made in hurry (thanks to Nirwanda)
- Added something else to credits
- Updated Game Manual (in-post) - Mana Recovery Rate information was added

Magic:
Mana is slowly regenerating all the time, it is regenerated faster with each character level. The Mana Regeneration Rate is:


MP Regeneration Rate = 60 / (30 - character level * 3) per second
Level 1: ~2.2 MP / sec
Level 2: 2.5 MP / sec
Level 3: ~2.9 MP / sec
Level 4: ~3.3 MP / sec
Level 5: 4 MP / sec
 
Spells:
Default Shot

Standard spell; Small bullets dealing weak damage. Their power and amount increases with level.
Level 1: 1 bullet | 1 damage / bullet
Level 2: 2 bullets | 1 damage / bullet
Level 3: 3 bullets | 1 damage / bullet
Level 4: 2 bullets with increased size | 2 damage / bullet
Level 5: 3 bullets with increased size | 2 damage / bullet
 
Fireball

A basic magical fireball with low MP cost. Bigger projectile dealing heavy damage.
Damage: 15
Mana Cost: 10
 
Healing

A spell, that recovers health.
Recovers:
x 1
Mana Cost: 100
Requirement: Level 2
 
Spread Shot

A strong spell, that throws fire projectiles around the caster. A wide attack dealing moderate damage.
Projectiles: 20
Damage: 5 / projectile
Mana Cost: 15
Requirement: Level 3
 
Nova

A powerful spell that blasts all enemies and projectiles. Clears the area around the caster dealing mega damage.
Damage: 180 / second
Special: Blocks enemy bullets
Mana Cost: 150
Requirement: Level 5

Sadly I suck at shoot em ups, so It will take me time to go even beyond stage 1, but the intro is nice so far.

that's something original, will probably keep trying.

To be honest it's not about battle between good and evil ~ but a battle to bring back the 'neutral', that Chaos Master Snix has split into two sides. (=

Snix is evil though. =3

Though I submitted this project for contest already, I decided to improve and finish this, since I really liked that project and what is more ~ I couldn't miss a chance of completing my very first game ever created in my life. =3

Many things were added to make the gameplay more enjoyable and balanced.

Also, message for ex members of Team Good: The troops are placed in alphabetical order from 'A' (from the left) to 'Z' (to the right) so it's not about my personal impressions etc. ^^

I'm really happy, that I managed to post a completed game here. =3

Chaos Master Snix is evil and he did a terrible thing and is still alive.

Maybe for the Xmas event, there will be a Mini game where we all unite Good and Evil alike under the Gray lords of the Balance, and cast off Law and Chaos.

Your master? There are 3 sides: Good and Evil (Neutral divided into two categories by Snix) and Chaos itself, that watches everything and keeps everyone fighting with each other. Snix doesn't give a single line in Tetris about both Good and Evil. ^^

Hope you'll enjoy and not get shrekt on the first level! =3

Yeah! And that would be a perfect plot twist! Both sides against Snix, that is confused and loses his power, since there's no chaos between sides anymore. =3

@Niten Ichi Ryu: That's cute, you think you can defeat my master. The fate of your world is already sealed; my master is undefeatable for without him there would be no balance in the world, you can not have a good team or bad without the chaos to guide them.
 
I never said my master was Snix, I am much more important than Snix, and while he may be the master of chaos, even he must answer to my master.

Playing it now...hand hurts >_<

A couple of things: first of all, tell the players in the instructions in the opening post or during the game itself that mana regenerates, knowing that makes a world of difference gameplay-wise.

Secondly, a few nitpicks:

- When the heroine is talking about casting the shield to protect the castle she says our castle twice in the same textbox, in my opinion, it would sound better if the second time she refered to the castle as "it".

- On that same dialogue, she says "When shield will be ready..." you're missing a "the" there.

It's as great as it was before, great work :)

Also, since I contributed a tiny bit to this, I feel like I should support it. How do I add that awesome banner to my signature?

*gasp* I forgot to put the MP regen stuff in game manual, since it regenerates faster with each level. I'll update the Game-Manual-On-Site later. =P

*double gasp* Yeah, there I could derp'd heavily as the dialogues were made very quickly due to no time (since they were made before the contest's deadline) + English isn't my first language. Thanks for reporting the grammar issues, as they must look awkward, no doubt.

For now I'll leave these ~ I'll update the game when there'll be something more to add. =P

About the banner ~ I didn't make support banners yet. I have a banner in my signature, though the support banners should be kinda smaller, than the one I have in my sig. But if you wish to use that banner, then you can just highlight the banner from my signature and copy&paste to yours. The link will be automatically copied.

I made a simple gif, showing how to copy the banner for my other project, it's basically the same procedure:

(It's the same, but instead of heart there you have a banner)

Also is the configuration a problem for anyone?

I plan to add WSAD type configuration in future, so that players will be able to choose their preferred one.

Planned WSAD type controls:

WSAD: Move
, : Default shot
. : Cast Fireball
/ : Cast Healing
Shift: Cast Spread Shot
Space: Cast Nova
Control: PAUSE

If somebody has an idea for a better configuration, then let me know.

I'll update this game when I'll find some free time and it'll be not that fast, since I'm really busy lately. =P

I wanted to post in the thread once I finished the game, but I'm weak: still stuck on stage 2. :(

I like the controller scheme as it is, though letting the right hand do the button mashing may actually be a good idea.

Many people have problems ~ I'm very often getting comments, that this game is too hard. =P It all depends on experience - people that have played games like this before and got used to bullet-avoiding, will beat this game without any problems. =P Sorry to hear you have difficulties.

I'm left-handed so I'm able to press 'Z' like 'auto', so for me it's a lot easier. =P

Perhaps I'll add that option in future ~ I think I'll be changing input system, because I'm still getting reports with errors from Dekita's and that's awkward, so I'll be remastering the input anyway.

Since the 'button mashing' is a common problem of my lovely players and I've received a feedback few hours ago with a suggestion - I have considered adding this and I'm bringing a small, yet helpful update for all of you! ^^


Game has been updated to version 1.0.2!

Changelog:
