To put into basic terms, Grandia has a time bar whenever you enter a battle.

[if your scratching your head as how the system works, read below. If you know what it is, skip the explanation.]

-The Idea-

The time bar is divided into 4 sections.

||||||||||||||||[Wait]|||||||||||||||||||||||[Action]\/\/\[Act]/\/\||END

The enemies and players share this same time bar.

During Wait, Nothing happens, all actors are idle.

Action is where everything stops and the player decides an action, such as guard, attack, defend, so on.

Act is the time it takes the actor or enemy to perform said action, where it gets a little tricky.

Attack, Item and guard actions, They go through the Act phase quickly and are executed.

Spells or Skills slow down during the Act phase since a character needs to chant or prepare themselves to perform the action.

Lastly, a handful of skills can usually impede the enemy from reaching the Act phase and can have his or her actions denied.

Example, An enemy during ACT gets attacked by a hero, his action is denied and he is either set back a few seconds back to the wait bar or has to start his wait all over again and vice versa.

A set of skills can also set the enemy back a few seconds on the wait bar or freeze him or her on the bar entirely!

-------------------

Thats the request, If you don't have any idea still, give Grandia 1 or 2 a shot and if you like Pop American music in JRPG's, try Grandia 3

So basically the Act phase is the amount of time it takes to perform a particular action, which is determined by the speed of the action that can be set in the database. Faster actions would be performed immediately whereas slower actions would take more time before they are executed.

I know I'm bumping, though this is something I should have included within my first post to give a better idea.

That and I goofed, Its suppose to be 'Com' phase to issue commands, not 'Action.'

But on the bottom right between both Grandia's is the sort of combat system I explained in post one and how it reacts to certain skills is still true.

I'm not eligible of a user enough to post full photos in topics, sorry about the links.

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
