Graphic card issues

not sure if this is the right forum thread for this issue..

I try to explain the problem as far i understand it:

- I had to disable the elektricity to turn off the computer
- when restarting the computer, the screen was black (monitor was connected to graphic card)
- after changing the monitor cable to onboard, screen worked again, but pc had boot problems
- i used the option "start win in safety modus" to properly boot windows, after that i could start windows normal ( i guess that was related to the graphik card cant be found and perhaps driver problems)
-after looking into "geräte manager" (in german, screenshot below) and using "show hidden stuff" i found out that my system cant see the connection to my graphik card.. code 45

.. also if i try to use the radeon symbol
-> it tells me there is no related hardware

-so for whatever reason my extern graphik card cant be seen (it has elektricity the fans are all running)..
-and driver update says i got the latest , or if trying to load the driver from extern website it says "cant be installed ,because no related hardware in your system"

I still believe that the card is NOT broken & that alle cables are in contact ect,.. because:
- i remember having such an issue in the past, a friend solved it for me but i dont know how
- i dont believe that the graphic card can break so easyly ,by disabling the power
(i had an older pc where the older graphic card had survived much worse actions)

--> so i am currently using the onboard Graphic and also got my monitor cable set onboard,..
Has anybody an Idea what i am missing here or can point me in a direction how to get my extern Graphic Card working ?

everything worked fine in the past and i believe thats this issue is somehow related to:
- pc had driver data problems after not booting down correctly ..
but i got no idea what else to do at the moment..

sidenote:
the extern graphic card is on the PCI 1 and my bios is also on the setting "use pci 1 for monitor"
- also my bios uses "auto" to decide which graphic card (onboard or extern) is used..,because i still need the usage of the onboard graphic aslong my Graphic card is lost..

the graphic card data is:
r7 370 gaming 4g

the gigabyte bios data is:
z 170 x - gaming 3

bios ver. f22j

and i am using windows 10

on any form of power loss there is a very high chance of files being damaged.
that is because to speed things up, harddrives work with a cache and part of the shutdown of windows is to give the harddrive time to store things properly. cutting electricity thereby destroys all currently open files.

depending on what exactly was damaged, you at least have to completely download new drivers and force-install them on windows, or might even have to completely reinstall the entire windows OS

i am pretty sure that this is only related to the graphic card and maybe its driver..
i think the only thing the pc did before all that happened was playing a music video (utub).

but i dont know how to force install, and if windows and my bios cant see the graphic card hardware, i dont know how to install the driver without getting the error "cant be installed ,because no related hardware in your system"

that is bad news for you.

there is a very small chance that you might be able to solve this by removing the wrong entries in the device manager and then have windows scan for new hardware.
check the symbol on your radeon driver entry: it is a bit ghosted and not solid.
your first step would be to check the entire device manager for all those ghosted entries, and delete them. A very few of them will either refuse to be deleted or reappear later (mostly microsoft entries), but the rest would have to go.
after that, restart and let windows reinstall the hardware it then detects, and hope that the display card is among them.

there is also a small chance that the card detection has been disabled in BIOS, but if that is all set to automatic that is unlikely

the most probable reason is that your display card is now defective. It still might be "only" a damaged Windows, but then you would likely have more problems in other areas.

One question: how exactly did you "disable electricity"? What did you try before that?

I removed the AC cable,..
i couldnot turn off the PC by using the power button or reset ect ,and whenever i moved the mouse to the "start" button to "restart computer" the taskbar dissapeared (it was weird)

your first step would be to check the entire device manager for all those ghosted entries, and delete them

before i deinstall stuff i will probably open the pc again and try if any contact is not correct.. i somehow fear that the pc doesnt see the hardware no mattter if windows or bios trys to find it
(also other helper addons that can update drivers dont see the hardware/GraphicCard)

if the hard shutdown (pressing the power button for more than five or ten seconds) or a reset switch didn't work, then you have a problem on your motherboard.

You'll need to run DDU in safe mode, so download, install, and then restart in safe mode. Run DDU (it'll take about 5 - 10 minutes) reboot into safe mode again and launch DDU again for it to clean up. After it cleans up, restart normally and re-download your GPU's drivers.

another way around which could work (at least on my time when I had it
on an older system), turn off the system and remove the main power cable.

keep the turn on pc button for 10-20seconds to remove all electricity in it.

plug the power cabel back in, and boot your pc.
download DriverBooster and update all drivers it gives (most stable once are given).
and install them, it should work after that part, if not, repeat above untill button 10-20
seconds, than open your system case and remove the graphic card, and re-inplug
after a minute or 5, than reboot your system to see if it has any effect.

if not, it could be that the graphic card is damaged or broken.
if you have a reserve system where it could fit in, you can test it there to see
if its working properly.

well i tried a clean rebuild of my OS (win10)..

but somehow i still got the problem that the hardware cant be seen..

i read somewhere that this could be related to:
- using intel prozzessor, which also means having intel graphics onboard graphik card
and
- the NOT-onboard graphic card beeing AMD radeon
(i just could not unterstand the solution, and cant find the thread at the moment)

..so that some drivers are conflicting and the system can recognize AMD hardware

the only other reason would be that my AMD graphic card is broken, i just dont want give up to early on this^^

....

sidenote:
when rebuilding a fresh win 10, i recognized how much trash this OS adds to the pc, and i am thinking about downgrading to win7..
( i didnt install the pc OS, drivers, ect in the first place on this PC , and lot of trash was already removed from the person who did it )

-> i am still interressted in any ideas on how i can fix the graphic card issue but i am also interressted on what OS other people use and why.. or in other words comparing win 10 vs win7 ect
( i know win 7 is not supported anymore but aslong most important things are working .. i might not care if its supported or not )

This is not an accurate belief. You're talking about expensive electronics, and power surges or cutting off during use can absolutely damage any component in your computer.

If you're spending money on computer things, you should probably upgrade to Windows 10 or 11. They're pretty comparable to me, so 11 gives you the longest supported lifespan.

Even if your important things in terms of components are working right now, you have a graphics card so I presume you play video games - pretty soon you're going to start running into games that don't support Windows 7. That's why I finally gave up XP, I got a few games that wouldn't play.

I really suggest you consider more appropriate places to look for help. Yes, there are people here who are knowledgeable about computers, but there are other entire Web sites and forums dedicated to it. And some of those I'm sure are in your native language, which would make the entire conversation more comfortable.

You also probably have computer repair shops in your area, which might be the best thing for you to do since you don't seem to be very comfortable with how the details of your operating system or components work. Yes, it's not free, but you'd have a functioning computer again by now.

thanks for the infos
(about Os & that you think power off can break the hardware)
repair shops are no solution for me and i have a functioning PC
(thanks to the onboard Graphik, which also allows to play my games)
Of course i am looking into a lot of forums , to get any solution(english & german), i just dont want to make accounts everywhere, and it doesnt hurt to ask, after messing around with the problem for a few days..
(i am aware that this forum is not the best place for getting help on hardware problems, cose thats not the purpose of this forum)

since you don't seem to be very comfortable with how the details of your operating system or components work.

thats not the point here, the point is i recognized how much i dislike the behavior of win10 and newer OS, regarding taking controll and adding/doing stuff that is unwanted..
( if xp would be supported better i would even go back to xp myself^^ )

I'm using WIndows 7 still, mainly I dislike win8, win10 and win11 for
ALOT of reasons.

as win7 gives me still FULL control, and win10/11 does not really and
some programs on win7 doesn't work on win10/11 as well.

I find win7 still the best version to use and easy to navigate around it
as I find the later version trash (no offend to win10/11 users that like it),
but its not for me

yeah i asked a bit around (elsewhere aswell) and the only issue most people tell about win 7 is, that they dont feel secure when it comes to online banking or using paypall ect
(anything where people can steal your money)

and we have probably similar reasons for disliking win8-11, you dont need to explain them^^

that win7 maybe is nsecure in payment is maybe lower, but mostly
depending how you protect your system.

a virusscanner, firewall wall can stop alot of stuff, in compare if you
dont take any of those protection to make it very easy to be hacked.

I know, mine is secure for most newby/average hackers, but it doesn't
stop them for trying or pro-hackers that can go into any system easely.

so no system is 100% secure if you ask me, just becarefull with installing
3rd party software and search info before installing, so you dont get backdoors
installed for hackers.
