I think I may have posted on the wrong forum, I don't know where this should be, so I decided here.

Is there a tutorial for how to use GraphicsGale to make charsets & facesets for RMVXAce?

That's a pretty specific tutorial. I don't know of one that specific for any graphics program. Would a more general editing tutorial do as long as it's for GraphicsGale? (Not that I know of one of those either, but it's more likely to exist.)

Most people use the Photoshop Tutorials and just translate them into GraphicsGale usage. I think it's because as expensive as they are, a lot of artists have PS. I've tried finding specific tutorials on GraphicsGale and even GIMP, but haven't had much luck, but generally, what you learn from PS can be duplicated (with some alterations) to the other programs.

The way Graphics Gale works is different from Photoshop to be honest. It follows the old style, but effective, procedures of making pixel art.

Interesting; I haven't used GG much myself. But since it's free and usually recommended by members throughout the RM communities, you would think there'd be more tutorials for spriting, editing, and parallaxing with it. Since there wasn't, I assumed the differences were pretty minimal and tutorials could be used interchangeably.

There does seem to be a lot of interest in GG because it's free, and since it's often recommended and people have asked, it could be worthwhile encouraging more tutorials for it when it comes to RPG Maker.

You asked for tutorials on making charsets and facesets with GraphicsGale, of which there are hardly any. When I say hardly any, I mean next to none. I've come across maybe two tutorials for GG over the past few years within the RM circle, and I don't recall if they were very informative. So I suggested following along with the PS tutorials and applying what you learn to GG, assuming that both programs were relatively similar. However, Archeia pointed out they are pretty different from one another, so using PS tutorials to learn GG may be difficult.

Thus my above post, wondering why there aren't more tutorials for GG. Most tutorials you will come across for spriting, editing, creating are for PS. Since GG is a free alternative, and most people recommend GG, and a lot of people have asked questions in the past about GG, you would think finding tutorials on using GG would be a lot easier, but sadly it's not. For whatever reason, there are countless tutorials on using PS for your RM needs, but very little on GG.

Edit: Thanks, Archeia, for pointing out the Pixel Art sites. I might have a look there myself. One of the reasons I've avoided GG was because of the lack of tutorials, but I may give it another try when I have some time.

There's actually tutorials on GG on Pixel Art sites! I'll try making one over here. However using Facesets for GG seems counter intuitive. Are you talking about pixel facesets or the drawn facesets you see in the RTP?

Using Graphics Gale for drawn ones wouldn't work. It's a Pixel Art tool. You need something like PaintTool SAI, Clip Studio or Photoshop for that.

Pixel-anything means pixel art likely in this context, you can then imagine if you think about it, that she means pixel-art faces.

Graphics Gale is for pixel art. (A program which can create ONLY pixel-art, it can not create anti-aliased lines you must make them yourself (or maybe it can I never got it too haha xD) or gradients or other things Photoshop and Gimp and programs like that can do. But long story short, Gimp is the free solution for creating art (even pixel art) of every kind. There's many other options. If you want pixel-art facesets and pixel art graphics then GG is for you. If not your using the wrong program.

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
How many parameters is 'too many'??
