Hey!
I'm Parallax Panda, new to this forum but not to RPG maker, although it has been a while since I used it. Actually, I'm not really new to this forum either since I've been lurking here for over 1 year now, but with the release of the new shiny RpgMakerMV I thought it might be time for me to emerge from the shadows. If I'm going to use this program I might as well be part of the community, ey?
I am an artist, ...I guess. I started out young and I've dabbled in many different art disciplines over the last ~16 years. Pixelart, Comics, Graffiti, Digital art, Concept art, Portrait painting etc. You name it, I'm a jack of all trades, master of none (unfortunally). But as I get older I feel like I'm starting to find my own style and focus my artistic endeavour more and more. And it's mostly character designs and some pixelart that I've been doing lately.
As I mentioned I have prior experience with RPG maker. I started out in XP (but never really got anything done) then I stopped. I moved over to click teams Multimedia Fusion 2 (but once again never really got anything done) and then I stopped - again. Last year I bought Rpg Maker VxAce and played around with it, and you guessed it, I never really got anything done!
...but I learned a lot and it was fun. Hence, when this new engine got a launch date I pre-ordered it right away and here I am. Hoping to FINALLY make something. Hopefully a game but I am thinking about (not promising) making some tilesets or other art assets as well... maybe, I have a busy life. My day job as a teacher and my marriage demands a lot of time and attention and that will have to be my number one priority.
Anyways, might as well include here that I've also tried other game engines like Ren'Py and Game Maker Studios (and a whole bunch of click team products) but at least to me, there is something special about Rpg Maker that feels right. For artists with no or very little coding experience like myself (who also prefer to work alone), it's close to perfect.
But this introduction is starting to look like a wall of letters so I'l just end it here.
Nice to meet you all and don't be shy, write a comment!
