Grid battle system

Hi, guys
I currently need grid battle system for my project since I want to use Suikoden's battle system. There's a dead project by Amuseum, but I need one for my current project.
I tried using Yanfly's row formation and target core, but those two doesn't have similar output as I expect. I need the battlers to be in exact spot in the formation and I also have skills whose AoE targets lane... like spear. Well, it's possible to do with
I think it's possible to modify Yanfly's row formation to do just that (Lane AoE= 1 battler from row 1 and 2, etc).
Visual change helps a lot, but I prioritize the mechanism to do it right. I know that making a battle system takes much longer to finish...
I have no JS proficiency, so could anyone help me?

Well, as you said such a system takes a long time to make and a lot of knowledge.. TBH most actually working systems of such nature I've seen are custom-made for the projects they were used at. For public ones, there was one for Ace but IDK if it had been remade for MV, and it was a full tactical battle system.

There's an unfinished project for MV out there, but the author is gone from this web...
Yeah... all I need is grid like Suikoden or Etrian Odyssey, not the ones in Adventure Bar Story or Atelier Annie.
Still so hard...
If anyone can help modifying the Yanfly's row formation, I'll be grateful.

One thing you should do is fully describe what you want. Don't say like game x, as that depends on people playing that game AND interpreting how it does things the same as you do. As it is your description is too vague, just saying help modify Yanfly Row formation is not enough info. State HOW you want it modified, and be precise.

Those games I mentioned are fixed btw and their grid system are in two different categories (that's why I gave example right there as I played those)

Anyway, if it's not clear enough:
1. The row formation needs a limit for max actor/ row, so that the player won't cluster the actors in some rows only.
2. The actors should appear the exact order the player organize them in the formation.
3. Enable skills with 'line' AoE. I mean something spear-like which is line-piercing. 1 battler from 2 consecutive rows for example (row 1 and 2, 2 and 3, etc), 3 consecutive rows, or 1 battler from each row. (With different tags for each). even better if the skill hits battlers in the same line.
First option:
A B C
D E F
G H I
Player can choose target individually, but they have to choose 1 target from each row (A/D/G, B/E/H, and C/F/I)
Second option (I think better):
Player has to choose to hit ABC, DEF, or GHI. This way, if any of the spots are empty (e.g. let's say that B is empty), the skill only hits the available targets (in this case, A and C), but there should be at least valid target for the skill to work.
4. if the formation grid is for the party formation altogether, instead of each actor, it'll be great!

Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
