Grid Battle system?

I'm curious if there is any plugins that have a grid based battle system with 3x3 square spaces for actors and enemies. Or if there are any plugins that can somewhat do it or are similar to the idea, and if there is a way I can do it myself if nothing comes up.

These are often called "tactical battle systems", and they are rare because of the massive work required for them.
There was one for Ace, and it might have been ported to MV, but I'm not sure about that - I suggest you search for "tactical" on the forum to see what is there.

It's call a tactical battle system.

You'll have better luck eventing one than programming one simple because the amount of work needed is massive and MUCH more massive due to the fact you're dealing with a framework instead of doing everything from scratch and even from scratch it's still a bit of work...

Here's a basic idea of how to make one.
For starters you goring to need a _tilesizeX and _tilesizeY variable and then _tilemoveX and -tilemoveY.
Your then going to need a pattern, see if you can make a basic straight line and to check if an enemy is at the next tile just do
if enemyx >= 48 && enemyx <=49
// run battle sequence
end
basically just check if an enemy is 1 tile over but not greater than 1 which is why you check it's less than 49 as that would lead into 2 tiles in front or back of you.

Now this is an over simplification of a tactical system but scripting one and basing it around MVs movement system can be a pain, I have tried making a basic one in Unity and the line count was still 600 I can't imagine what a basic system in MV would be "won't be 600 lines... that's for sure..."

AFAIK Lecode's TBS doesn't use a 3x3 grid for actors and enemies, but it's your only choice for TBSs as of right now.

Eventing it is of course an option, but it's very complex to do. Having tried, I can tell you that you'd better just learn javascript and make it as a plugin. Even then it's not trivial.
