Okay, so soon I'm planning to get a drawing tablet. And I had the idea to make a visual novel using graphics made with the tablet, in a style that purposely looks hand-drawn and a bit sketchy to be like the Chronicles of Narnia book pictures with color or something. How many of you would play a game like this / like this idea?

That could be really awesome, it would be nice to see a different style in a visual novel.

I say it depends on a couple of things.

1. How well you draw, and what you mean specifically. An example may be good. My idea of hand drawn sketches may differ from yours, and unfortunately I haven't seen the ones from the books you mentioned.

2. Does the art style suit the story? If it's really cute and funny, then the first thing that popped into my head in terms of art style wouldn't suit it at all.

There are other points I could bring up, but I feel these two are the most important and wouldn't influence/put ideas into your head.

second this, custom graphics are great... if you can do them, you'd have to show examples of what you can do for an accurate opinion

Not only show what you can do. You know, you can't say "is this good" in a graphical aspect. You need to see the whole picture (got it? picture! ehehehehehe...).

A graphical style is the game itself reflection, visual representation... whatever. A game is made from an argument (which consists of several other parts), graphical stuff, music, gameplay, and a bunch of things that doesn't fit anywhere (?). Surely, hand-drawn always have some charm, but you need to consider if the graphics you're trying to make represent your ideas correctly. Also how hard is to make them, and then it's just being consistent, not making weird remixes like pixel art with hand-drawn (unless you DO want to, and plan how to make the mix).

Anyway, thing is, it's hard to say if something works without any "physical" evidence, ideally everything works,

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
