Early stages of the evented/scripted farming system
Im sorry for the really, really low quality video, kept the file size as small as possible
04/01/15: Guess who's back! Good Lord. And no, this isn't an April Fool's joke! I am really glad I'm able to work on this again after having my last update by about a year ago??? Anyway, I have the intro and the farming system almost geared up, and soon I can hopefully upload a playable demo.
- Game becomes incredibly laggy when there are too many plots/crops on the map. (I'm guessing this is because of a lot of events or parallel process, or because I'm still using Windows XP with a 912MB RAM. I'll probably need a few people to test if it lags in their computers as well.)
- Needs to fix the way the sprite picks up items (with Sinmora's Pick-Up and Gift Script)
- Needs a script that has multiple Action Trigger buttons, similar to the script by Tsukihime for RPGVXA
- Needs a script that completely 'deletes' an event from the map.
- Still using the default menu.
- No random weeds/branches/stones yet
02/25/13: Hi guys! We're almost back on track. I'll probably be moving in here, and I don't think I have much to update over at our old wordpress blog due to my lack of time and other things to do, but I am very happy and thankful for all those who constantly ask about the status of my game! T-T I have no plans of cancelling this, but hopefully more or less I'll be able to make updates soon especially regarding the story and some character development. By the way, I have some bad news for everyone; I am so sorry for not having told you sooner but Character Machine v1 is discontinued! It will no longer be updated, but a few days ago I've been pondering over about making a v2 where it'll be much lighter in file size, different interface and different art style +new items included! Then again those are just plans for now but I've made, let' say a 2% progress on all of it haha! Ahem, anyways! Here you are for today's announcement. I'll edit up this part if there's anything else I forgot.
So for some reason, your parents kicked you out of home and you’ve wasted all your money going out, having fun, and not to mention you are also paying a monthly rent which you needed to stop when you realized you were broke. You had nowhere to stay. You had no choice but to accept the offer of the mayor in a village called Happy Field in staying in one of their empty shacks for no charge—under one condition.
The old house you had moved in was the home of a farmer named Grandpa Taffy who was recently deceased. Aside from the fact that the villagers loved him so much and made many memories in his farm, the land has been left untended for more than 3 years and was at the verge of being built into a commercial space by a wealthy businessman. In return of getting a new space to sleep in (which you generally disliked), you had no choice but to promise to help them restore the farm the way it was when the old farmer was still alive.
You were kind of rude and difficult at first, but who knows? As time goes by maybe you’ll learn to love the country. And as much as you never dreamed of being a farmer, it also isn’t easy being a lone city folk in a village, to put it simply, you just don’t have a single idea about farming. But you are challenged to prove yourself and with the help of some friends, you can bring back Happy Field village’s old farm to life.
You get to choose between male protagonist, Andy or female protagonist, Nana.

Role: Milainé House Décor specialist. He works there as a hair dresser and sometimes they think he's queer. Mostly he’s just narcissistic. He loves himself more than anything else, other than that boy he always see in the mirror everyday--oh wait, that's him too.
Personality: Debonair, Perfectionist, High-Maintenance.
Role: Store owner. He tends the store, where you can buy all sorts of goods including cooking ingredients and vegetable and flower seeds for your farm. He’s a little bit gullible.
Personality: Gentle, Patient, Amiable
Role: The Rich Kid. Decides to put up his mansion in the peaceful Happy Field for that is where he finds solitude, often times helping the villagers and especially sponsoring the festivities. Many people think he's unapproachable, but he's actually only very shy.
Personality: Cold, Aloof, Direct-to-the-Point
Keith Credits to Alim Abas
Role: Mayor's Son. He was left with the village's responsibility as the mayor's son, and he likes going over the town to check out on people and how they are doing. The girls love him very much as they go fighting over him whenever they decorate on town festivities. He is also especially very supportive of you.
Personality: Shy, Witty, Discrete
Role: The Carpenter. He owns a shop where you can order house and tool upgrades, as well as takes this skill for his dream to create the best invention a builder has ever done in his life. Although he usually fails either way, he still goes on to look for inspiration and things to make use of.
Personality: Boasty, Assertive, Too-Full-of-Himself
Role: Doctor. He works at the village clinic, and takes Era as his medical assistant and apprentice. He finds it hard to teach her this profession for she obviously has no interest in it, but still does all he can to become better of a teacher, as it is his calling, and challenges to be surpassed by the latter.
Personality: Man-of-Few-Words, Short Tempered, Pretty Boy
Mila Credits to Alim Abas
Role: Milainé House Décor specialist. She works with Blaine in the village and likes going over to town, chatting with the girls and checking out the boys during her days off. She is quite mischievous, and she likes things always going her way. She loves acting like the boss all the time.
Personality: Snappy, Charming, Flirtatious
Kimberlee Credits to Lannako
Role: Owner of Chicken Farm. You can buy chickens from her, and she really loves them as well. She's a sweet, charming girl although can be a little bit stupid and breaks things out of nowhere. She also tends to be very naive, and just can't say 'no' on anything. She has high ambitions in life and someday wishes to be an astronaut.
Personality: Clumsy, Innocent, Easily-Impressed
Role: Bartender. She tends the bar, and goes to the mountains to play her flute during her days off. She has very simple dreams of living a peaceful life, and being with her 'master' as she is always pre-occupied about her feelings for him. Sometimes she believes she's being too sentimental, and she should stop questioning her feelings too much. Sometimes she thinks maybe it's just a form of gratitude.
Personality: Calm, Pure, Quiet
Role: Nurse. She works with Noah at the Village Clinic, being the most useless nurse as of the Doctor's preference of her. She's always random and usually forgets even the littlest things, sometimes her own house, sometimes her left shoe. Her attention span is very little and her mind tends to fly off elsewhere as always, but she is determined to do her job either way. Always, either way.
Personality: Indecisive, Unfocused, Imaginative
Role: Shepherdess. She tends the sheep and cow barn in the village, and loves to roam around especially the mountain areas. She is quite childish, and easily cries off on things that it make her Marco's little play toy. She's trying her best to act with finesse and lady-like when she's around Marco.
Personality: Child-like, Immature, Sensitive
Role: Next-Door Neighbor/Farmer. She doesn't do much in the game other than being the main source of information, as she guides you through your farming routines through out. She'll always appear on your front door every morning every time you have accomplished a new goal, e.g. getting your first farm animal, etc.
Personality: Boyish, Edgy, Likes to Act Tough
Role: Town Mayor. He is the one who maintains peace and harmony in the village, and has served them for several years in his life. He is also the one who leads ceremonies and festivities in Happy Field. He was the one who convinced you to stay and tend the farm that was left by Grandpa Taffy.
Personality: Responsible, Trustworthy, Reputable
The Goddess of Abundant Harvest
Role: The Village Goddess. She is believed to have possessed great, mysterious powers that pour blessings all over the mountains and the whole village. She is believed to be kind and merciful, but she should not be angered as of being a contributor to the destruction of the forests. At midnight, she is also believed to visit your farm for a while, before the crops sprout, dancing over them and chanting heavenly music.
Personality: Soulful, Soft-Spotted, Mysterious
Role: Carter's Butler. He acts like a father to Carter then, having been there ever since he was a baby. He is very protective, he has dedicated his life worth to the boy, and will do everything to take care of him well. He learns that Carter is really turning into a man after he confessed to him about his love for a girl in the village.
Personality: Very General
Here are the rivalries contained in the game. So you better hurry up before these guys get along too well!
Mila x Blaine - Though often times they always quarrel, they are actually the best best friends anyone would have ever encountered.
Kimberlee x Nadi - A funny combination of the two most gullible people in the world. They get along just fine due to things that would easily impress them, making them a very nice, peaceful and simple couple.
Claire x Carter - Claire always thought of Carter as her master, as he is superior. She is always curious of his thoughts since he is too quiet, often times she thinks he's a cold person but little did she know that she is the one whom he always tells his deepest thoughts to. She loves him secretly, and would rather die than confess.
Era x Noah - More of a student/teacher relationship. As a doctor, he takes Era as his little apprentice, or 'callous' so to speak. Despite the fact that Era is such a hard learner, he still tries his best to pursue onto this career for he had no other dream but to be surpassed by his student, gaining a better reputation for himself. Although it may not look like it but she is also doing everything she can to cope with her teacher's lessons.
Carol x Marco - Carol hates it when Marco keeps on telling her that she's such a child. Usually, it's Marco who always comes running along and saving her from mischief although she always claims that she can take care of herself. She wants to go and prove to Marco that she's already a lady, and maybe he’ll be surprised.
Jelly/Keith – Both of them are deeply trusted by the Mayor, having them to act, lead and run errands around when needed. That’s where they basically formed so much of their friendship and it’s kind of making most of the village girls jealous.
