Welcome one and all to our annual holiday celebration! As the year inches to a close, we want to spread joy and prosperity across the community through free resource donations from some of our most talented contributors as well as by gifting a few lucky individuals copies of RPG Maker(s) and resource packs. We have a lot of exciting things to share with you, so we hope you'll stay tuned and stick around!

This year, our event is tied to a story we started back in October, where the Chaos Master Snix ruined a good competition and got away with the prizes (read about it here). Some of the festivities this year will center around getting back at the trickster, while hunting down extra presents. It is not necessary to participate in this in order to be eligible for giveaways, but we strongly encourage you to give it a go. You might have a blast and make a new friend or two.

Updates will be made on an hourly basis, starting with giveaway participation information.

You can introduce yourself, report for duty if you're on Snix patrol and enjoy the holiday season!

Amazing FREE Resources:

♥ The first resource we have to share is from Caz, who (apart from being a talented artist) is the lead for our Restaff project. If you're not familiar with Re-Staff, it is a series of absolutely free packs released every 2 months that contain resources for RPG Maker created by incredible (and very talented!) volunteers.

♥ The second resource we have comes from Tyler Warren, the creator of the whimsical battlers in this bundle or these sets (one, two, three), as well as the RTP Redesign. Tyler is hard at work on new packs, as well as optimizing his existing packs for use in MV. If you don't own any of Tyler's pack, now's the time to get them!

♥ The third resource is from the immensely talented Pandamaru. If you're not familiar with Maru's work, click here and prepare to be amazed. Maru is renowned for her amazing tiles and equally impressive maps.

♥ The fourth resource is from Avery, who is a jack-of-all trades when it comes to her talent in art. Avery has the kind of talent, motivation and drive the rest of us artists want to assimilate (keep your brain safe, Avery!). You can find some of her incredible icons right here and her MV bits here.

♥ The fifth resource is for your ears - music and sound composed by our very own Ms Littlefish. If you're not familiar with Ms Littlefish's incredible work, jump, hop and skip over to her thread where she generously shares her incredible music.

♥ The sixth resource is from the extremely talented VexedEngima - the artist behind Pop! Horror City and a ton of soon-to-come addons and packs. Vexed is talented at everything pixel, gets major props for incredible design and is a kickin' awesome writer to boot.

♥ The seventh resource is by Slimmmeiske2, an artist and developer renowned for her love of fairy tales. You can find her work in ReStaff, as well as her thread.

♥ The eight resource is from Scythuz, a talented composer and the mind behind Dungeon Music Pack and Cyberpunk Music Pack. Scythuz is hard at work on future pack, but he's always got time for a commission or two!

♥ The ninth and tenth resources come from Palladinthug and Michael Rookard.

Palladinthug is a talented spriter who creates fabulous retro pixel art. His monsters are truly amazing and a fantastic add-on to any resource library. Check out Palladinthug's game here and his workshop here.

Michael Rookard is an illustrator and painter who creates incredible backgrounds and battlers. You can find his Sci-Fi Battler pack here and Battleback pack here.

Please remember to credit and to take a minute to thank our contributors.

We've trapped Snix in many prisons, and he will be kept very busy trying to break out of them all. While it's not the end of the Chaos Master, I think we'll be safe from his shenanigans for quite a while. Phew! What a relief! The resources are unlocked and the community is now free to enjoy the free goodies.

Winners - you will be contacted about your prizes on Tuesday, December 22nd! We're leaving the participation open through the weekend, and will be choosing extra winners on Tuesday.

Thank you all so much for participating! We hope you had a great time. :D

I'm here! And I don't want to bring Snix's mom back into this. Don't make me do it! I hope I'll be done cooking by the time the information comes in. XD

I've made some good progress on my game so I suppose if something comes up I could return to combat my arch nemesis Snix. So hey everybody, Vox Kringle is here to bring tidings and cheer and beatings up in here if a Chaos Master Snix dares to draw near.

edit- giveaway entry, neat trick/tip:

Labels are a really little handy thing to learn in the maker, they can save you from having to repeat certain things and also let you create events that show more than 4 choices by flipping between "pages." Also try and get into the habit of being organized in your game, I try and make things in order of when I will need them in the game that way I don't get too off track and forget about something I should have done because I worked ahead.

I'm here, and I've researched this... "Snix"

I have some bad news on that front.

Urban Dictionary (not your standard plugin) has the following:

"A kick-ass nickname for someone who'd da bomb. An all-around, genuine, cool person."

If we're going to fight a Snix. Would that make us the villains? And do we need 90's themed attacks?

Edit:

Spread some goodwill and give an RPG Maker tip to a fellow developer - anything from a neat trick you learned to advice on how to make game development easier/more fun.
One of the best ways to get support for your projects is to first be a good sport and help others with theirs. Visit the "Projects" section of the forum and participate.

  • Offer your honest, constructive opinions.
  • Provide input after test playing a game or demo.
  • Volunteer to participate on a project that is recruiting.
Not only are these things greatly appreciated by everyone, you can even learn a lot while doing it.

We'll give him Pogs, Pokemon cards, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer reruns. He'll be distracted and not know what hit him.

Here for a bit and on patrol for the next 45 minutes

I managed to do a full English translation of one of the sample official Japanese  MV project files you can be downloaded on the Japanese MV site.  Been hoping a mod would send me a PM so I can find out how I can get this submitted to the English version can be downloaded bu others as I'm not sure of waht to do since it is a translation of an official Japanese samaple MV project.

Going to start translating Living Ship Cowboy next which is a long official MV sample game on the Japanese MV site most likely in the next few days

I'm here.

Snix, we are watching you.

Last time, you managed to divert our forces or efforts by splitting us between Good and Evil forces, but we learned harshly the lesson.

Now united we stand, to kick that ass of yours!

Hey, all! I had a bit of fun in in the last event so I figured, why not try to participate again?

We'll surely be ready this time so watch out, Snix!

Darn that Snix. *brandishes weapon*

Giveaways are awesome. My tip: When building a cutscene, remember you can often use a single, invisible event to control the movement of everything else, even the player. It doesn't need to be overcomplicated with moving something, set a switch, move something else, set another switch, etc.
