So after researching different ways to minimize mapping (making maps bigger with smaller areas inside to the point where characters can't see) I am having a problem with an event.

As soon as i walk out of my starting house, i meet up with another character who joins my party. After he joins the party, i have a little text at the top of the screen saying "player has joined your party", and is now a follower.

Now again, since i have smaller areas inside a big map, every time i walk in a building or shop, (which transfers you into a new map) when i transfer back, it comes up again "player has joined your party".

Do I have to hit a certain command in the event to make that stop? I've put "Erase event" at the end and everything, i'm not sure what else to do?

you need to use switches to switch off the event that displays the message.

Erase event is only TEMPORARELY erasing the event, it will allways be reloaded when you reenter the map.

If you post a screenshot of the event, we can give you better help.

You need to learn how to use switches and variables if you want to make dynamic changes.

The erase event command will only stop the event temporarily, but it will start over again whenever you return to the map. To make an event stop permanently, you need to turn either a switch or a self switch and then make a second, empty page with that switch as the condition.

Edit: Whoops, ninja'd!

Normally if a event is repeating, It's either because you don't ave a switch turned on to deactivate the event. If you are using the erase event command, don't, it only removes the event until you reenter the map. It could also be because you're using a common event(common events are not tied to any giving map).

To know for sure what's going on, we need to see screenshot(s) of your event, you please post some.

Sweet, i had the Switch in the wrong place! Thanks!

Also for when he follows, is there a way to not have him actually follow me around lol I can't remember if it was a command, or a script, i looked around at the commands but all i seen was gather followers, maybe i missed it?

Edit: Nvm, i found it in the database window.

Thank you all for the help!

Yea in the system tab of the database in the editor, there's a check box, uncheck it.

It's in database, Systems tab, top right corner, uncheck the box 'Show Player Followers'.  Bam! Gone!

so hopefully tomorrow i get to go home from the hospital i've been here for 5 days already and it's driving me mad. I miss my family like crazy but at least I get to use my own toiletries and my own clothes. My mom is coming to visit soon i can't wait to see her cause i miss her the most. :kaojoy:
Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
