Okay, I can't find any doors in the default tilesets, so I have decided to make my own in pixilart. I made a small tileset of three doors, imported them, but for some reason I can't use them. RPG Maker Ace is not allowing me to select that tileset and there is a red dot by it.

Does this mean i made them the wrong size? I had made them 32x32 pixels, which is the same size I used when making them for use in intersect.... do you guys use different size tiles? I had saved it as a PNG image. Do doors need to have animations, and if so, how would I go about creating one? I'm just thinking of possible reasons the tiles aren't working.

Also, what do the crosses and circles mean when browsing tilesets?

Doors should be made into event sheets not tile sheets.

There are lots of problems here to cover...
I use RMMV so some screenshot might look different, but the basic should be the same.
  1. Creating doors in RPG maker is one of the very basic that even the tool itself provide a shortcut to make one.
    Just right click on the map, choose quick event creation, door.

  2. Doors by default are not treated as tileset. But instead is treated as character set. The graphic is available in your character folder that include the animation called !Door1 and !Door2. You can learn how to animate it on the quick event creation you just make above.

  3. Even if you are trying to draw your own tileset, you can't just draw 32x32 graphic. Tileset has its own format and variation. They are A1 = Animated Tiles, A2-A3-A4 = Autotiles (floor, roof, wall), A5-B-C-D-E = Normal Tiles. Each of the type come in a set. Better learn about these in more details first before start making your own.

  4. Crosses, Circle, and Star represent tiles passabilities for characters. Cross = Impassable (characters cannot walk over), Circle = Passable (characters can move), Star (not available for Tile A) = Passable, but the tiles are above the characters.

  5. This is all very basic. I suggest you actually learn RPG Maker step by step from video tutorial and experimenting around yourself. By default RPG Maker also provide help content accessible at the top of the menu which you might want to check it out.

A red dot simply means a resource you have imported, rather than one from the RTP. It has nothing to do with your issue.

Sorry I posted it in the wrong place! I wasn't sure where the thread was meant to be. But, okay, I'll go watch some more tutorial videos, I had assumed that door graphics were like standard tiles, but since they are not I need to learn more about them. Thanks for the info :)

Update: I've watched the tutorial on youtube, and now have functioning doors.
