Hi everyone,

I'm still new to this forum (this is my second post) so I hope I'm putting this in the right place.

So I installed the Yanfly Skill Core plugin to my RPG Maker MV project so that I I could get rid of TP gauges from the status menu (I don't want to use TP as a skill resource in my game). The plugin has worked just fine in that regard.

The only problem now is ever since I installed the plugin, each time I go into my in-game skills menu for a character, none of their skills show up. The game appears to be treating it as if they have no skills learned, even though I set the skills for their class to be learned at level 1. There is simply nothing there. When I turn off the plugin everything is normal. Is the plugin bugged at all? Do I have to change anything? I'm not sure what I'm missing here. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Do you have other plugins? Oftentimes, problems like that can occur if plugins are set in the wrong order. Yanfly's site has a recommended order for any of his plugins you might use.

Honestly, I'm not certain if Skill Core is the best way to hide the TP gauge. Yanfly's Core Engine can disable the TP bar in the menu, and there should be a setting in the database under Systems (I think) that removes the bar from battles.

How did you configure the plugin?
It has several other functions, and one of them is to give special effects to some skill types if that skill type is set to that (like for example all skills of a skill type n are always learned by all actors if I remember correctly).

The only other plugin I am running currently is the Yanfly Core Engine. I did however discover that the skills are actually there, it's just that they are invisible. I can use them in battle, but the names of the skills just don't show up. For example, my mage can use Heal on an ally in battle and out, but the text on both skill screens is invisible. I may consider turning off the plugin and just sticking with turning off TP display from the systems menu. But I thought the idea of using HP as a skill resource was kind of cool so I wanted to keep the Skill Engine on. However if it's not going to work out I can live without it.

For future reference, is there a link to Yanfly's recommended order for plugins? I really like them and would enjoy trying them out in the future.

The only configuration settings I am seeing with the Skill Core plugin are options to change the color/font size/icons of skill resources in the skills menu. Basically just cosmetic stuff.

Yanfly's recommended order is on his plugin download page. Basically, any of his plugins should go in the order that he has the plugins arranged on his page.

http://yanfly.moe/yep/

That link should get you to all of his plugins. Also, you may want to check out Yanfly's Tips & Tricks videos on YouTube. You can learn how to create various effects using his plugins. Many of the crazier effects I created were based on those videos. For example, using the Paralyze (Pokemon) video, I created a dazing effect, which has a 50% chance to prevent the affected character from acting. That can't be done without the plugins.

Recommendation: Definitely get Buffs & States Core and learn how to do Lunatic Mode. You can create some crazy effects with that. And keep Skill Core. Again, Lunatic Mode allows for spectacular effects.

@bh1010 : I think Yanfly set up their skill engine so that all skills learned at level 1 do not get auto added. Why, I have no idea. To get around it, have an autorun run when the game starts, and have it force the character to learn those level 1 skills (done by the learn skill command). Then once all of those are done, turn off the autorun. That solved the problem for me.

Thanks for all the advice guys!

If I may bother you with one more thing. I just installed Yanfly's Battle Core Engine, and when I go into battle in game, my sprites are now invisible! So are the in-battle menus. I am still able to select everything and make attacks as if I have the skills, but I just can't see anything! I made sure that I had side-view battle turned on, so I know that's not the issue.

This is really bizarre. The only plugins I have at the moment are the Core Engine (turned on, at the top of the list) and the Battle Engine (turned on, underneath Core Engine). Could this be related in any way to the invisiblity issues I was having with the Skill Core plugin? Perhaps I'm just missing something that I need to do to the Core Engine in order to make all the other plugins stop turning everything invisible?

Good news! The problems have been fixed!

I found the folder with the DLC that I got for pre ordering RPGMV way back when and I just installed the Yanfly plugins from there and it works fine now. Not sure what was wrong with the first ones I put in but the problem is solved. AND I have a whole boatload of other plugins to enjoy now ^_^

And that tells us what the problem is. You see, it appears your project is on MV Version 1.0, and the plug-ins on the website assume your project is version 1.4. While you can still try to use the plug-ins that came with it, you will not be able to get any of the new ones to work until you update your project and plug-ins.

Also, what you did by posting under your old post is what we call double posting, we ask you to not do that and to just edit your previous post instead unless > 72 hours have passed. This is to give all others a fair chance to have their posts answered.
