Hello, I have been developing my game for some time now, however out of nowhere my tinting day and night effects and switches stopped working only when i start a new game, when I hit continue all of my stuff works just fine. i combed through my game and cannot find out the problem, I dont want to have to scrap the game and start over because of some minor details, some help would be appreciated

in this photo you can see the shady guy on the left, I have a switch for him to come into the event but for some reason he always shows up now when he did not used to

it used to look like this...

the sky would tint to night and the shady character would stay hidden until he was supposed to come out from behind.

here is the common event and events I used and obtained from this forum actually to produce these effects,

The first one I actually got off of here where you use 1 variable to call upon 4 switches I forget who wrote it  but they did a good job and I thank them for coming up with such a great

day and night transition

and here is the event I wrote myself using a switch that used to work or did not.

I am asking for someone to give me a suggestion to fix my problems or give me a hand because I am 95% away from releasing a demo and this is the last thing i have to tackle before I do

so. as always I thank you all for your time and help

thanks so much!

I do see something weird going on, the common events have no Trigger, so you need to either have a autorun or a event of some kind to call it.

In your saved game, you probally have a trigger somewhere(perhaps you placed a temp trigger to test it out earlier), that for some reason you accidently removed from the beginning of the game.

Condition branches can't be checked, until the actual event page has been initialized/triggered to beginwith.

RMMV
either you have deleted an event that triggered some of the switches, or you added an event or a script that changed those switches.

We can't check what's the case because your screenshots were cut - the part that tells us how it's triggered is cut off from the last event, and was never defined for the common event screenshots.

If the problem came through a script, check all your scripts for variables and switches defined in the script configuration part, and then check those numbers for double uses.

When you post a screenshot, make sure you include the WHOLE window. The most important parts have not been included in yours, so we can't be sure any answer is correct.

Here are the pics, sorry for not showing the event side of things. I appreciate the three of you coming to my aid. I just dont know how to recall the trigger to reenact the effects because they were pretty cool and made the

game look pretty decent. I let me know if you need any other info from me to solve the problem.

Yea It's never gonna work as is, unless you call the common event.

You probally had an graphicless event set up that called the common event, and you deleted it by accident(unless you had that event call it, and you deleted the command).

I am new at this, so how would I call the common event?? I thought common events rang throughout the game unlike switches where you turn them on or off?

only if set to autorun.

In a reg event, there's a event command called, Call Common Event. put that command in some kind of event, and have it call your Day/Night Common Event.

In a reg event, double click a blank command line to popup the event command options, select call common event/the Day/Night common event.

Ending an event, and using a condition branch for switches wont make the common event work, because the Common event either needs a trigger or something calling the common event, for the Common event to check the condition branches.

To your 2nd post: That doesn't explain one thing though, how are you activating the Common Event?

Mrpaulyshore, please avoid double posting, as it is against the forum rules. You can review our forum rules here. Thank you.

Just edit your script instead of double posting.

Let me guess - you were using Yami's Overlay script, and you hadn't read the instructions that said you have to assign switches and variables for the script to use and change the script to USE those switches and variables? You ALWAYS look for configuration options whenever you install a new script - if they have any and you don't set them, it'll almost always cause problems.

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
