I've gotten into the whole practice of making battle idle animations for characters, and using enemy sprites but I've been having some trouble... sometimes, I get this:rpgmaker2003graphic.png

This first time this happened, I figured it was because I was resizing stuff, and it wasn't good with processing the "blurring" it cause on the sprites. But now, it's happening even if the sprites at their original, clean quality. Is there anyone who can explain what I might be doing wrong?

Your image must be in 256 colors. This happens if you:
  • edit images directly from your game folder and save it to a different color bit
  • drag and drop an image that is not 256 colors into the game folder
I recommend using Resource Manager to import your images so you can also select the alpha channel for transparency.

@Aldu
How do I use the alpha channel? I don't see any option for it....

When you import your image using Resource Manager, you click on the color you want transparent.

This doesn't use the alpha channel though (since the image uses an indexed palette and not color channels), instead it sets which of the colors occupies palette index zero, which is used as transparent color then.

It's cool, I've managed to get the sprites to work.

I found a book about game localization. It costs R$708,00 on Amazon. ;_;
I really wish my game was far enough along for it to be actually playable beyond certain aspects. I think I've crafted a really fun battle system thanks to ATB, fighting game, and Boost point mechanics.
