Hell|Bent is a short dark fantasy RPG adventure where you play as the "Pilgrim" traveling to the mysterious plague infested Midway Isle in search of the birthplace and hopeful resting place of the Necrazor, a twisted and cursed sword forged by the Devil, that has bound itself to the Pilgrim's soul.

This game was developed in about a month's timespan. It is in a complete and finished state but will receive an optimization update after the jam. If there's enough interest it will get revamped for commercial release, hence why it is in Games in Development.

The story begins en route to Midway Isle aboard a chartered pirate ship. Immediately after the captain finds the Necrazor the vessel is attacked by a large sea creature. The Pilgrim awakens on shore and must navigate his way to a "Church that over looks the ocean" for information about Mt Krull, the purported birthplace of the Necrazor. With information in hand he sets out on a perilous journey to rid himself of the cursed blade.

3 and a half years before the game begins a great tragedy struck the Kingdom of Midland. One million people suddenly died of no apparent causes. Then an Angel was born on Earth causing the gates that confine heaven and hell to weaken allowing monsters, demons, and monsters free to roam earth. The people of Midland refer to this as the Advent and the monsters who escaped hell are known as Castouts. During this period the Pilgrim makes a pact with the devil for access to the Necrazor, the infamous Bahomet Blade or sword of the Devil, so that he can wage a one man war against the Angelic creature who he believes is the cause for the Advent and so much death.

The Pilgrim -our salty antihero. He doesn't say much but when he does its typically short, to the point, and snarky. What makes a man curse himself? Why would anyone make a deal with the devil? What lengths would you put yourself through for the ones who matter most?

Hell|Bent features beautiful parallax maps, turn based combat that is dynamically acted out on map. 1-3 hours of gameplay. Level and equipment based progression. Fast Travel to lessen backtracking. Challenging battles and bosses. A very percussive soundtrack. Creepy mood/atmosphere.

Thanks for the kind words. I've been blasting through game jams recently trying to improve and improve my productivity. Give it a download and let me know what you think. I want to add a lot more content if people enjoy it enough.

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
How many parameters is 'too many'??
