Hi everyone! I chatted a bit around here a while back when I was fiddling around with VX Ace (hence the avatar!) then kind of fell off the wagon a bit. Since I've been playing with MV a bit, though, I feel like I've got my RPG making mojo back again, so I thought I'd re-introduce myself to you lovely people and hopefully hang out here a bit more often.
I'm Amarysse. I'm 35 and actually a dude, but I always liked the name Amarysse so habitually use it in pretty much any RPG I play where I have the opportunity to play as a lady. And I always take the opportunity to play as a lady when I can. I like pretty ladies, which is fortunate as many modern RPGs are delightfully full of them.
My game-making experience is limited but covers a long stretch of time -- back in the late '90s, my friends and I were big fans of Clickteam's products and even managed to put together a whole (rather rudimentary, but amusing to us nonetheless) game in Klik and Play. I've been fiddling with RPG Maker off and on for probably the last 10 years or so since the days of Don Miguel's 2000 translation, and thus I jumped at the opportunity to finally support this remarkable piece of software in English when it became available. I've picked up every major version of RPG Maker ever since, with my most recent acquisition, obviously, being MV, which I am absolutely in love with.
I'm currently making a silly project that is actually a quasi-sequel to that Klik and Play game from all those years ago -- us making a sequel to it has been a running joke for well over 15 years now; I thought it would be fun to finally make it happen -- but it's proving to be a great way to learn MV and a variety of popular plugins, too. The RPG Maker community is immensely talented and I feel both honoured and humbled to be able to brush shoulders with such gifted creators, many of whom -- like me -- are just doing it for the love of creation.
Outside of fiddling around with RPG Maker, I'm trying to find a regular paying job and, in the meantime, writing about video games (primarily Japanese and Japan-inspired) on my site MoeGamer -- I used to work in the games press, but after being repeatedly screwed over and generally treated like rubbish, now I, uh, don't. I still like to write though, so I keep my hand in whenever I can.
Anyway, I know what people's attention spans are like these days so I'll leave that there for now. Nice to meet you all (again, in some cases) -- hope to chat with you all soon. And then inevitably beg for help in the plugin/scripting forums.
