I've been lurking long enough, and thought that it may be time for me to actually introduce myself, and get to know the community better. I'm Ron, but go by Viktan throughout the Internet. I studied Game Design in college, but have always been interested in the enter workings of game design and development and technology as a whole for as long as I can remember, I was the kid who just took things apart to find out how they work, and did my best to put them back together haha.

I got my start with RPG Maker for the PS1, and have been a fan of Enterbrain ever since, I have yet to get a completely finished project out, but I have many testing, and partial projects using a large variety of game development and design software. I am really a simple, and laid back kind of person, just going with the flow until I bump into something that catches my attention.

I look forward to meeting, and chatting with you all, I am really thankful for those who put out resources, and scripts to those who aren't completely savvy with the coding/scripting part of RM software, it makes life so much easier, so thank all the contributers for that haha.

Hi there!

Welcome to the forums :)
Game Design sounds pretty interesting. What kind of things do they teach there?
I didn't even know there was a RPG Maker for PS1. That's crazy :D

I hope you'll have a good time here. :D

Take care,

Alistair

Thank you for the welcome, at the college I went to it was mostly focused on being a jack-of-all trades at game design. It took small portions of all aspects and attempted to simplify them. We learn how to write a game doc, pitch, and market the game, we also learned a small bit of coding and some art. The thing they focused on the most was being able to do all parts of design and development.

Haha the beautiful and limited RPG Maker, I loved it for everything it was back then. I tried to make sure to get every version that was released in the US, and I stumbled upon RPG Maker in a game shop discount bin and could resist buying it haha. I like 2 a bit better, and 3 was fine, but still very limited due to being on console.

Welcome to the herd! =)

Oh... I remember RPG Maker for PS1... Spent over 150 hours, then abandoned project... I still have that music played in editor in my head... ♫

I was working on RPG Maker 3 for PS2 as well! Spent over 100 hours, then abandoned project... That RPG Maker was kinda weird... but cool!

Now I'm working on RPG Maker VX Ace and I'll spend sooo much time on my project until I'll do the same? Hopefully not!

That's how I'm making games! Good for everybody! =D

I have a couple of projects going, one on hold because I lost the direction I started with, and the other I've been putting my time into that is moving along decently. Once I get one of them to a point I'm proud of I sure will keep everyone updated. Thank you for taking an interest!

Hahaha, so many hours into RPG Maker even thought there wasn't really a way to share what you had created, the music was fun though.

I would agree 3 of PS2 was one of the hardest, it was so limited in what you could actually do, but the graphical make over was a nice touch.

XP is one of my favorites, I spent a lot of time fiddling with that version, but Ace is really growing on me, the community seems to have really taken a liking to Ace, and that helps when it comes to needing advice, or a wonderful script. I'm currently sitting at 1,200 hours on Steam with Ace, and hoping to finally get a complete project done. Good luck with your projects, I will take a look at the ones in your sig, also thank you for the welcome ^_^.

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
