hi everyone.  :wub:   i'm lily and i just recently joined! i've been interested in making a game for a while but i want my first game to be a RPG styled visual novel (not really a game but just as an interactive novel; i hope people can understand me  ;_; ). i have all my characters and their stories ready, i just need to make some art and find a way to actually get started... it's a large cast so i know it's gonna take me a while.  ;_;

anyway, i was inspired by the games like mad father, misao, mermaid swamp, etc. i really want to convey my story ideas this way but i don't think i'm creative enough to think of puzzles...at least not at this stage.

my main passion is writing but i really want to be a voice actor too. i've already auditioned for a couple of fandubs but alas, nothing came out of it and i was not chosen (i'm not that good, i'll admit..).

i hope we can all work together and create amazing games together. ^^ i'm really sorry about this long intro.  :o

Welcome to the group!

Look around and you'll learn a lot. If you have any questions that you can't easily find answers to already posted, feel free to ask people. Most of us don't bite! :p

As for voice acting, keep practicing! Get a program like Audacity so you can edit the audio files(mainly removing empty silence from the start or end of the file), write the scripts, and practice. When you get a result you like use it in your games!

yeah! that's what i like to do before i ask a question or do anything, hehe. :3

i do have audacity but i suppose i could always learn how to use it properly~

Welcome to the forums! Although if you're going to make just visual novels, you might be better with the Manga Maker:

Although RPG Maker is a good choice too.
hmm i'm not particularly interested in that type honestly. ^^ i feel a rpg style would be more suited but i appreciate the suggestion!

One of the biggest benefits of using Audacity is the ability to save audio files in .ogg right from the start instead of having to use another program to convert them.

I don't think you'd want to use Manga Maker if you want to make a game. Because manga maker is for creating comics.

I've seen quite a few visual novels made in RPG Maker. In my opinion, visual novels are even better in RPG Maker than in engines like RenPy because you can see the sprites move around. There is also a loooooot of customisation via the variable and switch systems to use.

If you need any help starting up, especially in setting up different systems for relationships, dating, open world activities, Persona-like crap... give me a call! Just private message me and I'd be keen. Also, I'd probably want a sample of your writing and art. Just to see if you're the real deal or need a bit of improvement ;)

Looking forward to seeing your contributions. Just chill here. RPGMakerWeb is a nice place. Feel welcome.

so hopefully tomorrow i get to go home from the hospital i've been here for 5 days already and it's driving me mad. I miss my family like crazy but at least I get to use my own toiletries and my own clothes. My mom is coming to visit soon i can't wait to see her cause i miss her the most. :kaojoy:
Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
