Gao! Gao! (clearly I munch)

Hi there, I've been lurking for a long while on the RMWeb forums, grabbing little pieces of advices and scripts calls here and there from awesome (very munchable) pieces of people such as Celianna, Galv and Himeworks, and some more participation was long overdue.

I've always played around with game dev things RM related or not, so I'll possibly share more of my work here later. I also like to do a little bit of graphic resources and music and I'd like to learn more about the inner workings of it all, I'll try to help around in the forums. I'll only munch you as a payment, I promise! Gao! My first RPG Maker was 2000, but I spent most of my time on Rm2k3 in the old days and I'm discovering just now the marvels of Vx Ace and all that sweet RGSS3! I like to do things myself most of the time and try to avoid the copy/pasta syndrome that just syphons all motivation out of a project, but you're all a big help and I also wanted to thank you for that. I like the possibilities offered by scripting but I think my favorite thing is still mapping and eventing.

Also I'm 29, I never quite grew out of my RPG Maker phase. And I'm french. I munch snails, frogs and blue cheese and it's delicious.

Mapping and Eventing are awesome fun, I agree. There is something satisfying about doing things without a plugin, even if it takes forever some times. =P

Welcome to no longer lurking! And there is nothing wrong with never growing out of the RPG Maker phase. Young at heart is where it's at!

Mapping and Eventing are awesome fun, I agree. There is something satisfying about doing things without a plugin, even if it takes forever some times. =P

I think using scripts for some things where simple eventing is enough became too easy. Like, I evented a sound step system with terrain ID an all and it works great, even if lag is always a problem when you can't precache sound effects, and I'm happy to not have used one of the plethora of scripts that do the exact same thing with a right click. I must love wasting my time.

I checked out some of your music; it (as well as your art) is very nicely done!

Me too! One of my earlier games had a character selection screen that was all events. Had real time appearance swapping between the active character and the other sprites. Took me forever but there is nothing like that sense of accomplishment when it worked.

And it's not wasting your time if you're having fun. ^_~
