Hi there!

I'm new here, and by that I stumbled upon RPG Maker MV and these forums about one week ago. Since then I've been both studying it (in addition to Yanfly's vast resources) and in the process of making a game. I have been learning quite a bit, and still learning to be honest. And boy...is there a lot to learn - especially from someone who has no javascript experience. Luckily I am a fast learner :D.

Anyway, I'll be posting my game concept soon for feedback in the appropriate section. I'm also curious, what's the best way to begin to a game? I started with skill/animation and character development. (Boy is it taking a while x.x)

Anyway, enough of my random banter - HiHi :D

Welcome,

I just recently decided to join the forums myself. Have you found any good Java script tutorials?

Yeah the engine is quite extensive. I myself been playing around with the tiles getting something first that way that I can work with.

My personal oppinion their is really no one best way to begin a game. You could start it in combat. You could start it with someone that been in a deep sleep for many years. Start him off as a young kid with a little background story. So many options when you think about it.

If no tutorial though, You should have a little bit of one in the game itself. just my 2 credits :p

Welcome to Hotel Degica- the pool's in the back, you'll find a bowl of mints on the bed, and we have kindly left the trolls behind a 500ft-tall wall.
Enjoy your stay.

You may also would like to learn about Moghunter's and SumRndmDde's plugins as well.

Hi and welcome!

If you're just getting started, just make something! Doesn't matter what, just do it. It's good practice.

Otherwise, I'd say write down a few storyline and character ideas, test out some plugins that fit with what you have and go from there to make a game. You'll fit in fine here. =D

Welcome!

I'd say the best thing you can do for a starter is mess around with the engine for a while until you slap something neat together. Draw ideas from what you mess around with.

A huge learning point for me was watching How to Make a Horror Puzzle Game by TheOdie on youtube. It's very long but it's interactive and you'll be following along with him. It's cheesy, but you may be able to learn and draw ideas from it!

A pleasure to meet you, @Tsukunex.

You may be new, but you've already offered helpful suggestions to someone in need on these forums (the Hiatus thread), so you're alright in my book. :)

I hope you enjoy your time here.

Welcome to the forums! The best place to start when making a first game? Small. Very, very small. One town. One dungeon or tower. Save the princess from the dragon or whatnot. Buy items. Level up a few times on your way to save the princess. Find some upgrades. Maybe throw in a few short cutscenes. Try to make a whole mini-game that covers a most of the basics. You'll be much more prepared to tackle a larger project when you start out this way.

People4_2 (Capelet off and on) added!

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
