Hi everyone!
I'm a 22-year-old girl from the Czech Republic (middle Europe), currently a university student.
As many (most) people here, I've been playing and wanting to make computer games since I was a little child and even made some stupid ones maybe 10 years ago.
I've picked up MV almost 2 years ago and have been working on project(s) and also lurking these forums since then.

My plan was to make an interactive heavy story-driven game (reaaly long, of course :p) full of exploration, puzzles etc. But I've found I have absolutely no idea what it takes to make a game, game story (or any story at all) and even have a lot of trouble getting any ideas at all. haha

So I keep procrastinating on planning my story by: creating (and not finishing) tons of projects, making tons of maps, researching plugins, trying parallax mapping, drawing sprites, editing tilesets, doing facesets and character busts and eventing unnecessary stuff here and there.
I feel like I'm never going to finish any project, but after 2 years of trying, I'm kind of alright with that. :) What I'm doing is an incredibly fun hobby as well so I might as well not stress myself about it.

Still, I decided to join these forums because it's full of important and interesting information, resources and wonderful and skilled people who are willing to help each other out. I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone!

Ah, I didn't know you hadn't introduced yourself yet xD hello! I think we've met... read.

You could present us miniature projects to show off your skill every time you have learned something new :)

Hello!
Im one of your followers heehee!
You seem like a very smart girl that will do great! I def know how it feels where you have ALL these ideas for a game you want to produce but
procrastination is def a big thing for me as well ha ha ha

I really would love to see some of your work!!!

Just remember some games that take a long time tend be the great games! Plus when your doing it by yourself it is a lot longer as well. :)
You got this!

Hey, @Lemonrice, @RouletteBunnie!
Ah, I didn't know you hadn't introduced yourself yet xD
That's me alright. Introducing myself only after being a member for 8 months. :D To be honest, I've been active here only for about a month and I'm not good at these kinds of posts (or any kind, I guess) so I was putting it off. But now I thought I might as well do it.

I think we've met... read.
Yeah, we did, "ma'am". (I'm so sorry, but I just found it hilarious for whatever reason)

...miniature projects...
That's a nice idea, I can try to do that. If I get any ideas, that is.

...ALL these ideas for a game you want to produce...
That's the problem. I guess I don't really have ANY ideas. I have plenty of characters but the plot is nonexistent xD

I really would love to see some of your work!!!
You mean a game, right? I'll try but knowing myself, it won't get done. :D

Just remember some games that take a long time tend be the great games!
My game's going to take a long time and be bad :D. But thanks for believing in me, at least somebody does if I don't.

Wow, what a nice introduction. Welcome to the forum!

Hope you can finish your recent project and give us some more, but always keeping the feeling of having a great time. I´m not too experienced on MV but I´m also trying to learn the necessary for releasing my own one day!

Anyway, have fun here. See ya ^^

I think every aspect of game creation is interesting, even it is just characters, they require a lot of effort. Maybe we have some sort of "creation prompt" thread on the forum, to help kickstart ideas... if not, maybe this could be a thing :kaoswt:

Hello! Well... I did say I'll be leaving gamedev temporarily but I find myself here twice or thrice a day... just to see how people are doing. And I see you have just introduced yourself! So I thought I'd drop a quick 'hi' lol. It's great to see you still trying and workibg on a game. I've seen many people give up after fiddling around with it for awhile. I also have MV for two years. Got it in 2017 some time after my birthday and still can't produce something presentable. I do have some tiny unfinished demos and stuff but people are gonna laugh I just know it XD You're really nice I can tell since we've talked sometimes. Hope we can help each other out in the future ^^ Have a great day!

Hello, Misha! (May I call you Misha? No? *okay face*) Loved your introduction! I'm kind of new here... but I'm definitely not new to RPG Maker, been toying with it since 2006, so I pretty much know that feeling of procastionation you mentioned, haha! See ya! o/

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome! Didn't really expect it, haha.

@Xaveriux I too hope I can finish it, but since it is just a fun hobby, you're right that having a great time is the most important for me.

@Lemonrice I'll try to look for a thread with ideas or something. I remember people always saying that everybody has an idea for their perfect RPG, everybody can be the person with the idea and I'm just jealous, I want ideas too. xD I'm probably not very creative. Or hardworking.

@Hyouryuu-Na Hey, how's studying going? Even if you don't work on your game now as much as before, you can't spend all day studying or you'd burn out.
While I might give up on individual projects or take a short break or two, I feel like I'll stick with RPG Maker anyway. When I'm working on the projects (even when I'm just procrastinating by drawing, lol) I feel like I'm doing something productive and don't feel so bad as if I e.g. played games instead. And it's more fun than playing games anyway.
Producing something presentable or even producing something is harder than it looks. xD Even if people thought it's not good enough, at least you know you can make a game, that's an accomplishment to be proud about.
You seem very nice too and I'm sure we can help each other out. Have a great day as well!

@TheNewSon Oh, feel free to call me Misha! It is actually my name (or a short version of my name, pronounced like /mi:ʃa/). I don't get why you like the introduction, it seems like random ramblings to me. :D Procrastination is my best friend and worse enemy, haha.

Good luck to everyone on your projects and hope to see you. :)

@mishakoc Studying is going ok. I procrastinate a lot. But it's better than before now that I don't have to worry all day how I'll plan an event and stuff regarding games. I do get bored after an hour per session since I'm focusing more on maths -_- my worst enemy. So when I'm bored I work on a horror romance novel (only romance is too boring for me) it's for a side project. And I love writing whatever the weird stuff goes on there. It's way too weird in some parts. I can't include those in the game XD My main project is very big. I can't wrorry about that now.

welcome, we are gladd to help you out if you got troubles, but start small, and extend later if possible.

Creating a game is hard, so I got a part of the story done, but busy on my map.
when I got the part of the map done, I implent the story a bit , but probably need to change some bits as well.

After that, I make some maps or the full world map so to speak, and later the inside and entrances
with the story include.

Dont rush and take your time. the End game is what counts ^^

@Hyouryuu-Na Glad to hear you studying is doing well. Even if you procrastinate a bit (we all do, right?). You need to take breaks once in a while or you'll die of boredom.
Don't like studying math, huh? That's one of two subjects I can focus on :D. My second best friend. In other areas, I get bored and discouraged after 5 minutes.
Oh, you're writing a novel for your side project? Cool. Weird things are great. xD It's fun to think up things even when they won't appear in your game.

@ShadowDragon Thank you! I'll try to start small. Now I know better and don't want to make a huge complicated MMORPG as when I was a kid, haha.
Yeah, game making is hard and fun, the ratio changes depending on what you do at the moment. I'll be sure not to be reckless and take my time.
I thought it's the journey that's important, not the destination. :)

@Arcmagik Thanks!

Haha well seeing as you have chosen to formally introduce yourself I guess I'll reply with : welcome to a great place xD (ignoring the fact we already have had conversations lol).

I think your approach of mainly having fun is a healthy one andd Who knows what the future brings gamemaking wise :)

@Finnuval Thanks, you're right, this is a great place :D.
Everything I've written aside, I still have a hope of finishing at least one game in my life. (Now that I think about it, I already did. But it was a stupid cutesy space shooter so it doesn't count. xD Moving the goalpost to one RPG.)

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
Can someone recommend some fun story-heavy RPGs to me? Coming up with good gameplay is a nightmare! I was thinking of making some gameplay platforming-based, but that doesn't work well in RPG form*. I also was thinking of removing battles, but that would be too much like OneShot. I don't even know how to make good puzzles!
one bad plugin combo later and one of my followers is moonwalking off the screen on his own... I didn't even more yet on the new map lol.
time for a new avatar :)
